Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday said loans of farmers will be waived and the daily allowance under the MGNREGA scheme will be raised from Rs 250 to Rs 400 soon after the party government is formed at the Centre post elections.
Addressing a campaign rally at Segaon under Khargone Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh, Gandhi alleged Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made up his mind to alter the Constitution and eventually scrap it.
"Soon after coming to power at the Centre, the Congress government will waive loans of farmers and raise the MGNREGA allowance from Rs 250 to Rs 400 per day," he said.
Congress has fielded Porlal Kharte and Narendra Patel from Khargone (ST) and Khandwa Lok Sabha constituencies, respectively.
"This election is being fought for saving the Constitution, reservations, and also the Jal, Jungle, and Jameen of tribal people, and public sector," Gandhi said.
PM Modi wants to give all these things to 22-25 billionaires including Adani, he alleged.
He said the INDIA alliance government will deposit Rs 1 lakh into the accounts of poor women to make them lakhpatis.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has expressed surprise over the last-minute exit of the Congress&rsquo; Indore Lok Sabha candidate, calling it unfair and stressing that voters have the right to decide in a democratic set-up.
In a major setback to the Congress in Indore, its candidate Akshay Kanti Bam pulled back from the contest on April 29, the last date for withdrawal of nominations, and joined the BJP.
In an interview with PTI, Mahajan said, &ldquo;I was surprised to know about the withdrawal of the nomination of the main opposition party (Congress) candidate in Indore... This should not have happened. There was no need for this development as it was written on the wall that nobody can defeat the BJP in Indore.&rdquo; The commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh has been a stronghold of the BJP. Mahajan had represented the constituency eight consecutive times since 1989.
She said, &ldquo;The Congress candidate (Bam) should not have done this in the elections. In a way, he also betrayed his party (Congress). But why should I use such words?" Mahajan claimed she was unaware of the circumstances that led to such a situation.
The 81-year-old BJP leader, popular as &lsquo;Tai&rsquo;, said, &ldquo;I don't know what actually happened. If all this has been done by our people, then it is wrong. There was no need to do it. If the Congress candidate has done it on his own, I will also tell him that he should not have done it.&rdquo; She said candidates should contest polls if they have filed nominations.
&ldquo;Democracy is all about going to the people and obtaining their decision about what they want. That's why elections are held,&rdquo; she said.
Mahajan said that after the first electoral change of its kind in the history of Indore Lok Sabha seat, some educated people from the city called her up to say that they would press NOTA (none of the above) option as &ldquo;they did not like what BJP did&rdquo;.
&ldquo;I explained to them that BJP has done nothing in this regard and that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the party is sticking to its core ideology and our candidate (Shankar Lalwani) is in the fray, so they should vote for BJP instead of NOTA," Mahajan said.
In 2019, BJP&rsquo;s Shankar Lalwani defeated his nearest rival of Congress, Pankaj Sanghvi, by 5.48 lakh votes.
BJP has renominated Lalwani from Indore, which has the most number of eligible voters in the state at 25.13 lakh. The BJP has given a slogan of victory by a margin of 8 lakh votes here.
Just a week before the Indore development, the BJP candidate in Gujarat&rsquo;s Surat, Mukesh Dalal, was declared the winner after Congress nominee Nilesh Kumbhani's nomination was rejected and other candidates dropped out of the contest.
Mahajan said she was not aware of what had happened in Surat as she was not present in the Gujarat city at that time.

If he is changing his Lok Sabha seat, then let him change. On the questions raised by the opposition over her party's election slogan of &lsquo;Abki Baar, 400 Paar&rsquo;, Mahajan said, &ldquo;When a student studies diligently throughout the year and believes that he has to pass in the first division, then why should we find his statement strange. Aiming less is a crime.&rdquo; Mahajan claimed that based on the country&rsquo;s development, the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and the enactment of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, the BJP will adopt the slogan of winning over 400 Lok Sabha seats this time.&nbsp;

Congress' Indore Lok Sabha candidate Akshay Bam was "threatened and tortured" following which he withdraw his nomination, the opposition party's Madhya Pradesh chief Jitu Patwari has claimed while targeting the BJP.
Bam withdrew his nomination on Monday, which was the last day for the process.
"Three days ago, IPC section 307 (attempt to murder) was added to an old case against Bam. He was threatened. He was tortured in different ways for the whole night. And today he has withdrawn his nomination," Patwari alleged at a rally here on Monday.
Bam, his father Kantilal and others are accused in a case that was registered in October 2007.
On April 5 this year, the victim filed an application in the court of the judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) seeking adding of section 307 after alleging that one of the accused had fired on him.
The plea was accepted on April 24 and Bam and his father have been asked to appear in a sessions court on May 10.
"What is the message in all this? Don't people from Indore have the right to use their vote? If you believe in democracy, please stand up against this dictatorship. This is not just about Congress and BJP. Anyone who wants to vote, and keep reservations and the Constitution strong must stand up," Patwari said.
Something similar happened in Surat in Gujarat, he added.
In Surat, BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal was declared elected unopposed last week after Congress nominee Nilesh Kumbhani's form was rejected over irregularities in signature of proposers.
Patwari said the BJP is praising itself but what was the mistake of the people of Surat who wanted to elect an MP with the power of their vote.
Referring to leaders of various parties, including the Congress, joining the BJP, he alleged the ruling dispensation was misusing official machinery.
"Democracy and the Constitution are under threat," he asserted.&nbsp;

Modi's comments come a day after an NIA team was allegedly attacked by a mob on Saturday when attempting to arrest two main suspects in a 2022 blast case in West Bengal's Purba Medinipur district.
"The TMC is a party that disrespects India's constitution and Rule of Law," he said.
The attack on NIA on Saturday evoked memories of January 5 when a team of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was attacked by a mob in North 24 Parganas district's Sandeshkhali during a search at the house of TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh, who was later suspended, in connection with alleged irregularities in the public distribution system.
Modi mentioned that the situation in the state is such that "the court has to intervene" in various matters.
The prime minister accused the TMC government of impeding the implementation of the Centre's welfare schemes for the poor in the state.
"The TMC is not allowing the central funds to reach the poor people of the state. They want the central funds in their own account first. The syndicate Raj of TMC is going on across West Bengal. The TMC government is putting brakes on central schemes for the welfare of the poor," he said.
Claiming that the Enforcement Directorate has attached properties worth Rs 3,000 crore from corrupt leaders of the TMC in various corruption cases in Bengal, Modi said suggestions are being taken on ways to return the money to those who have given it.
"I guarantee you that the money looted by corrupt leaders will be given back to the poor people who had to give money to get jobs," he said.
Modi alleged that the opposition alliance is busy indulging in politics of lies and deceit.
"I am saying remove corruption; the opposition is saying 'save the corrupt.' I will ensure the corrupt are punished, and the poor get justice. After June 4 (when Lok Sabha poll results will be announced), more stringent action will be taken against the corrupt," he said.
The prime minister said, "The TMC, Left, and the Congress have formed INDI Alliance to protect the corrupt." Referring to recent incidents in Sandeshkhali, where allegations of sexual abuse against TMC leaders emerged, Modi assured people that the culprits of Sandeshkhali will spend the rest of their lives in jail.
"The entire country has witnessed what happened in Sandeshkhali. Don't you think Sandeshkhali culprits should get strong punishment?" he remarked.
During a rally at Cooch Behar on April 4, Modi had said that the culprits of Sandeshkhali will have to spend the rest of their lives in jail.
Urging people to elect a strong and stable government, Modi said, "The stronger the central government, the stronger the trust of the world in Bharat." "I work 24x7 for 2047. The past 10 years of the NDA government were dedicated to easing the lives of marginalized communities. You supported me, and I decided to transform the landscape of India. What you have seen in the last 10 years is just a trailer," he said.
The prime minister also came down heavily on AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, without mentioning him by name, who recently objected to raising the issue of the abrogation of Article 370 by BJP leaders during poll campaigns in other states.
"The Congress president thinks Article 370 has nothing to do with other states. Is Jammu and Kashmir not an integral part of the country? This reflects their divisive mindset. It was Syama Prasad Mookerjee, a Bengali, who fought against Article 370 and gave his life for the cause," said Modi.
Reaching out to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe population of the Jalpaiguri constituency, he said the BJP has facilitated the empowerment of all during the last decade, including the SC/ST community and women.
"TMC is against the interests of the poor and the SC/ST community," he said.
To woo lakhs of tea garden workers in the region, Modi blamed the TMC for being &ldquo;responsible for the woes of the tea industry in West Bengal." "TMC is against the interests of the tea garden workers of West Bengal and has consistently exploited them. The TMC leaders have bungalows, but the tea garden workers are deprived of benefits,&rdquo; he said.
The TMC dubbed Modi's allegations as baseless.
"The prime minister was speaking of corruption, but the BJP shelters corrupt people. And regarding attacks on central agencies, these agencies are working as frontal organisations of the BJP and are targeting TMC leaders," TMC leader Santanu Sen said.
At the beginning of his speech, Modi expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in a storm in Jalpaiguri last week.

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillor in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior district cleaned a choked sewer in his area and alleged that he complained several times but the municipal corporation did not act on it.&nbsp; Councillor from Ward 15, Devendra Rathore cleaned the sewer located in Birla Nagar in the city on Tuesday. A video of the incident also went viral on social media. Later, the municipal corporation team reached the spot and cleaned it. The team continued the cleaning activity on Wednesday as well.&nbsp; &nbsp; "There was a big sewer problem in ward number 15 and dirty water was flooding inside the houses of residents. People were facing a lot of foul smell and the matter was also brought before the council but no one paid attention to it. After this, I told the Commissioner, also requested the Mayor and raised the matter in the Council but the issue was unheard of. After that I realised I would have to solve this matter myself," Rathore told ANI.&nbsp; "People have given me the vote and I must value their vote, therefore, I cleaned the sewer as no one was listening and people are facing issues. After I did the cleaning, the Municipal Corporation employees also came and started cleaning," he added.
He further said that when he went for an inspection in his area, the municipal commissioner called him and said he shouldn't go anywhere and neither talk to officials as the Model Code of Conduct was in force.&nbsp; "The commissioner told me that I should neither go anywhere nor talk to officials as the Model Code of Conduct is in force so what option do I have? The only solution I had, I went into the sewer and cleaned it," he added.&nbsp;
Councillor Rathore also took a potshot at Mayor Sobha Sikarwar saying the municipal corporation was under the Congress and the Congress Mayor remained silent.
"The municipality here is under Congress. We have the government in the state but here we are working under the Congress' mayor Sobha Sikarwar but she remains silent," he added.&nbsp;
Nonetheless, Additional Commissioner of Gwalior Municipal Corporation, Munish Singh Sikarwar said that wherever sewer-related problems arose, they were resolved immediately.&nbsp;
"Wherever sewer-related problems arise, they are being resolved immediately. In that ward too, work was being done by the Municipal Corporation next to the sewer. If such information was received, it would also have been resolved," Sikarwar said.&nbsp;

The opposition Congress sought an apology from Kushwaha saying his suggestion would lead to incidents of domestic violence.

Madhya Pradesh minister Narayan Singh Kushwaha has advised women to ask their husbands to drink liquor in front of their family members at home instead of going outside so that they feel ashamed and slowly give up the habit of drinking.
He made the remarks while addressing a function on "de-addiction campaign" in Bhopal on Friday, a video of which also went viral on social media.
The opposition Congress, however, sought an apology from him saying his suggestion would lead to incidents of domestic violence.
Addressing the gathering, state Social Justice Minister said, "The biggest contribution in this (de-addiction efforts) is of mothers and sisters of the house. First of all, tell them (husbands) not to drink outside in the market. Tell them, if you want to drink, eat food and stay in front of me. If they drink in front of me (their wives), their limit will keep decreasing. They will gradually come on the verge of quitting. They will feel ashamed to be drinking alcohol in front of wife and children." The wives should also tell their husbands that their children will also start drinking alcohol in the future, he said.
He said the women should form a local group and show "belan" (rolling pin) to the people with drinking habits.
Talking to reporters later, the minister said that drinking liquor in front of their children at home will make the men feel ashamed and discourage to quit their habit.
The children will also tell their father not to drink, which will have a positive impact on him, he said.
Reacting to Kushwaha's statement, Congress leader Sangeeta Sharma said that by giving such advice, the minister was encouraging domestic violence.
The main reason for domestic violence is addiction and alcohol, she told reporters and claimed that more than 17,000 cases related to domestic violence caused by liquor are pending before the Madhya Pradesh Women's Commission.
The minister is encouraging women to use rolling pin against their husbands, which will lead to domestic violence, Sharma said.
The minister should seek apology for his remarks, the Congress leader added.

Houses built on government land by 11 persons were demolished in Madhya Pradesh's Mandla after the police received a tip off that a large number of cows had been held captive for slaughter.
A senior police official said that 150 cows were found tied in the backyards of the accused. He added that cow meat was also recovered from the refrigerators in the homes of all the11 accused.
The official further said that they also found animal fat, cattle skin and bones, which were stuffed in a room. He said the local government veterinarian confirmed the seized meat was beef.
One person has been arrested in connection with the case while the hunt is on for the remaining.
Notably, cow slaughter is illegal in most Indian states. This has also been backed by the Supreme Court.

Of the injured, 13 have been admitted in the district hospital while two have been rushed to Bhopal for advanced care due to wounds to the head and chest, Rajgarh Collector Harsh Dikshit told PTI over phone.
"The toll is unlikely to go up since the two severely injured persons are out of danger," he said.
The victims were members of a marriage party that had come from Motipura village in neighbouring Rajasthan and was on its way to Kulampur here, another official said.
Senior officials, including the collector and SP, are at the site of the mishap, he said.&nbsp;

Pune's police commissioner Amitesh Kumar told ANI news agency that the Crime Branch unit of Pune Police arrested Surendra Agarwal for wrongfully confining the family driver and making him give statements to the police that he was driving the Porsche during the accident.
Kumar said that Agarwal was booked under IPC sections 365 (kidnapping or abducting someone with the intent to secretly and wrongfully confine them) and 368 (wrongful concealment or keeping in confinement of a kidnapped or abducted person). &nbsp;
The teenager's father Vishal Agarwal, who is in judicial custody in connection with the car accident, has also been named in this case, PTI news agency quoted a police officer.
A day earlier, Pune police chief Amitesh Kumar had said that an attempt was made to establish that the high-end car was not driven by the minor.
On a complaint by the family driver of the juvenile, the Yerawada police have registered a separate offence against the teen's grandfather and father, he said.
The two have been booked under IPC sections 365 (kidnapping with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine a person) and 368 (wrongfully concealing or keeping in confinement), he said.
&ldquo;After the car crash, the teen's grandfather and father allegedly kept the driver's phone with them and put him in confinement in his house on the premises of their bungalow from May 19 to May 20. The driver was freed by his wife, said the official from the crime branch.
He said that Agarwal and his father allegedly threatened the driver and asked him to take the blame by claiming that he was at the wheel when the Porsche crashed into a motorcycle in the early hours of Sunday.
On Friday, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar told reporters that an attempt was made to establish that the Porsche was not driven by the 17-year-old, and the driver employed by his family even tried to take responsibility.
After the accident, the driver initially claimed he was driving the car, the commissioner said, adding, &ldquo;Why and under whose pressure he said that will be disclosed at an appropriate time.&rdquo; Citing their investigation, Kumar said it had emerged that the juvenile was driving the car and they had already collected all the necessary chronological evidence. &ldquo;For example, when the juvenile left the house, the entry on the security register shows that he left with the car,&rdquo; the commissioner had said.
&ldquo;He was fully in his senses, he had full knowledge that due to his conduct, such an accident, where IPC section 304 is applicable, can happen,&rdquo; the officer said. Section 304 deals with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
The Pune police on Friday suspended two cops, including an inspector from Yerwada police station, for delayed reporting and dereliction of duty in the case.
The Porsche, allegedly driven by the teenager, who the police claim was drunk at the time, killed two motorbike-borne software engineers in the Kalyani Nagar area of the city in the early hours of Sunday (May 19).
A local court in Pune on Friday remanded the six accused arrested in the case, including the teenager's father, in judicial custody. The teenager is in an observation home till June 5.
The Madhya Pradesh-based parents of the two IT professionals who were killed in the accident have demanded that the Supreme Court monitor the probe and the trial be held in their state.

The court acquitted accused ENT surgeon Tawde, Sanjeev Punalekar and Vikram Bhave for want of evidence.

A special court for UAPA cases in Maharashtra&rsquo;s Pune on Friday convicted and sentenced two men to life imprisonment and acquitted three, including key accused Virendrasinh Tawde, in the murder of well-known rationalist Dr Narendra Dabholkar.
Dabholkar (67), an anti-superstition crusader, was shot dead while on a morning walk on Omkareshwar Bridge here on August 20, 2013.
Reading out the order in a packed courtroom, Additional Sessions Judge (Special Court) P P Jadhav said that the prosecution had proved the charges of murder and conspiracy against Sachin Andure and Sharad Kalaskar and they have been awarded life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
According to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Andure and Kalaskar had shot Dabholkar.
The court acquitted accused ENT surgeon Tawde, Sanjeev Punalekar and Vikram Bhave for want of evidence.
The prosecution examined 20 witnesses while the defence examined two witnesses during the trial. The accused were opposed to Dabholkar's crusade against superstition, it had stated in its final arguments.
Pune police initially probed the case. The CBI took over the probe in 2014 following a Bombay High Court, order and arrested Tawde linked to the Hindu right-wing organisation Sanatan Sanstha, in June 2016.
According to the prosecution, Tawde was one of the masterminds of the murder.
Sanatan Sanstha, to which Tawde and some of the other accused were linked, was opposed to the work carried out by Dabholkar's organisation, the Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti (committee for eradication of superstition, Maharashtra), it claimed.
The CBI first named fugitives Sarang Akolkar and Vinay Pawar as the shooters in its charge sheet. But later it arrested Sachin Andure and Sharad Kalaskar, and claimed in a supplementary charge sheet that they had shot Dabholkar.
Subsequently, the central agency arrested advocate Sanjeev Punalekar and Vikram Bhave as alleged co-conspirators.
During the trial, advocate Virendra Ichalkaranjikar, one of the defence lawyers, had questioned the CBI's flip-flop over the shooters' identity.
The accused were booked under Indian Penal Code sections 120 B (conspiracy ), 302 (murder), relevant sections of the Arms Act, and section 16 (Punishment for terrorist act ) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act or UAPA.
While Tawde, Andure and Kalaskar are in jail, Punalekar and Bhave are out on bail.
Dabholkar's murder was followed by the murders of three other rationalists/activists in the next four years: communist leader Govind Pansare (Kolhapur, February 2015), Kannada scholar and writer M M Kalburgi (Dharwad, August 2015) and journalist Gauri Lankesh (Bengaluru, September 2017).
It was suspected that the culprits in these four cases were linked to each other.&nbsp;
