Nine Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested in Thane for Illegal Stay

Nine Bangladeshi nationals were arrested in Thane for staying in India without proper documentation. The arrests occurred after a police raid in Bhiwandi’s Thakur Pada area on Wednesday afternoon, sparked by a tip-off.

Sub-Inspector Rajendra Dongre from the Kongaon police station reported that the group failed to present valid travel and stay documents. Moreover, identity cards found in their possession were reportedly fabricated and obtained through illegal means.

In addition to that, six mobile phones worth approximately Rs 70,000 were seized from the suspects. Legal action has been taken against the individuals under sections related to forgery and immigration laws, while the landlord is also facing charges.

Legal proceedings have been started, with charges filed under sections 336(2) concerning forgery, along with other applicable sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Passport (Entry into India) Act.

The owner of the premises, who is said to have rented to the group, has also been implicated as a co-accused in the case, underscoring the necessity for property owners to thoroughly verify tenant credentials.

Authorities are currently conducting detailed investigations to determine the means through which these individuals entered India and whether they are linked to a larger network of illegal immigrants.

The police have emphasized the need for thorough tenant checks to avoid similar situations and legal repercussions.
