Not humiliated, Captain's closeness to BJP leaders was problematic: Congress

Congress’s Punjab in-charge Harish Rawat on Friday questioned Captain’s Amarinder Singh’s claim that he ‘felt humiliated’ over his ouster as chief minister.

Rawat said that the Congress had retained him as the chief minister for several years, and asked “how can that be humiliation?”

He further alleged that Amarinder’s “closeness to some BJP leaders” questioned his credibility.

Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday had called on home minister Amit Shah at his residence in Delhi, boosting speculation about the Congress leader breaking away to form his own party or aligning with BJP ahead of Punjab elections.

A day after meeting Amit Shah, the former Punjab chief minister on Thursday met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval at his residence in Delhi.
