Over 100 flights delayed at Delhi Airport due to dense fog

Over 100 flights were delayed at Delhi’s IGIA on Friday morning due to dense fog and low visibility. CAT III-compliant flights continued operations, while passengers were advised to check flight statuses and allow extra travel time.

Over 100 flights delayed at Delhi Airport due to dense fog

Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) witnessed significant disruptions on Friday morning as dense fog led to poor visibility, resulting in the delay of over 100 flights. According to flight tracking website Flightradar.com, the airport was affected by the low visibility conditions that slowed down air traffic and airport operations.

IndiGo, in a post on X at 5:04 am, advised passengers to check flight statuses before heading to the airport. The airline also recommended planning extra time for travel due to foggy conditions.

The Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) provided an update at 5:52 am, stating that flights compliant with CAT III (Category 3) can continue to operate in low visibility. CAT III compliance allows aircraft to land and depart safely even in reduced visibility conditions. However, non-CAT III flights were experiencing delays.

DIAL urged passengers to contact their respective airlines for the latest flight details and expressed regret over the inconvenience. The national capital’s airport, which manages around 1,300 flight movements daily, also advised travelers to anticipate delays due to fog's impact on visibility and traffic.

Airlines and airport authorities continued to work to manage the situation while passengers were encouraged to stay informed about any updates regarding their flights.
