Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said with a strong talent pool and thriving industries, Madhya Pradesh is becoming a preferred business destination and that this is the time, and right time, to invest in the state.
"For the first time in the history of Bharat, there is an occasion when the whole world is so optimistic about it," Modi said after inaugurating the mega 'Invest Madhya Pradesh - Global Investors Summit-2025' in Bhopal.
The commoners and economists, countries and institutions worldwide are optimistic about India and have great expectations from Bharat, he said at the summit, aimed to showcase MP's infinite possibilities for investors and industrialists.
"The world's future is in India" - such comments in the past weeks have bolstered the zeal of investors, he said.
Modi said the World Bank has expressed confidence that India will continue to be the world's fastest growing economy in the coming years.
He also said the Deregulation Commission will help create investment-friendly regulatory ecosystem in states.
A UN organisation on climate change has said Bharat is a "superpower of solar power" and that while many countries only talk, India shows results, Modi said.
India is emerging as the top supply chain for global aerospace firms. Textile, tourism and technology sectors will generate crores of jobs in years to come, he said.
"I can quote and give many instances of the world's confidence in Bharat", and such statements boost the confidence of states, he said.
"In the past decade, India's energy sector brought unprecedented growth, especially in green energy. Bharat has done what was unimaginable," Modi said.
"In the past 10 years, nearly 70 billion dollars, over five trillion rupees were invested in renewable energy sector. In last year alone, over 10 lakh jobs were generated in clean energy space. MP has reaped immensely from this boom in energy sector," he said.
The PM unveiled the MP government's 18 new policies, aimed at attracting major investment in the BJP-ruled state.
"With a strong talent pool and thriving industries, Madhya Pradesh is becoming a preferred business destination," he said.
"This is the time, and right time, to invest in the state," Modi said.
"The speed of development in MP has doubled after the formation of the 'double engine' government in the state," he said.
Modi further said MP is among the leading states in India's electric vehicles revolution.
"MP, where once roads were not motorable, buses couldn't move, is seeing an e-vehicle revolution. By January 2025, nearly 2 lakh EVs were registered in MP. This is a 90 per cent growth. This shows MP is turning into a new manufacturing destination," he added.
There are several opportunities in the health and wellness sector. The world is liking the 'heal in India' mantra, he said.
Modi said in the past two decades, MP has seen lot of transformations.
There was a time when there was a big crisis of electricity and water, and law and order was even worse. In such a scenario, industrial development was difficult, he noted.
But in the past 20 years, with the help of people, the BJP state government focused on governance. Two decades ago, people used to stay away from investing here, and now it is among the top states for investment, Modi said.
MP is the fifth largest state in the country in terms of population. It is among the top states in agriculture and in the top five in minerals, he said.
"Madhya Pradesh is blessed with Maa Narmada (river), the life-giver," the PM said.
MP has all possibilities and potential to be among the top states, Modi said.
"In the past decade, India has seen infrastructure boom. I can say, MP has hugely benefited by it," he added.
A large area of Delhi-Mumbai expressway passes through MP. The state is getting connectivity to Mumbai ports and north India market, he said.
MP has an over 5-lakh-km road network. Its industrial corridors are getting connected to modern expressways. This for sure means MP's logistic sector growth, Modi said.
In terms of air connectivity, Gwalior and Jabalpur terminals have been expanded. "MP's railway network is being modernised...100 per cent electrification of railways has been done in MP," he said.
"Pictures of the Rani Kamlapati station (in Bhopal) have enthralled everyone. On this line, 80 railway stations under Amrit Bharat station scheme will be modernised in the state," Modi said.
"Today, MP is a power surplus state with nearly 31,000 mw generation capacity, with 30 per cent clean energy," he said.
MP has over 300 industrial zones and more are to come, he said, adding there are huge possibilities of bountiful return for all investors in the state.
Noting the importance of water security for industrial development, Modi said MP was doing remarkable work in water conservation.
"The river interlinking mega mission is on in MP. It will benefit its farming and industry. Recently, the Rs 45,000 crore Ken-Betwa rivers interlinking work started in MP. It will enhance productivity on 10 lakh hectare land," Modi said.
CM Yadav said with the Global Investors Summit being held here, MP will make its identity as a major global investment destination.
The government is committed to double MP's economy in the next five years and the state has decided to observe 2025 as the year of industries and employment, as part of the commitment to make India a developed nation by 2047, he said.
