In an attempt to step up their attack on the ruling government over alleged corrupt practices, the Congress on Wednesday put up ‘PayCM’ posters across Bengaluru.

The posters featured the likeness of chief minister Basavraj Bommai and a QR code.

Upon scanning the QR code, the user is redirected to a website called ‘40 percent sarkar’. The portal was launched by opposition party last week for citizens to register their complaints against the government.

The website ‘40 percent sarkar’ refers to the allegations of bribery levelled by the state contractors against BJP leaders and officials. The contractors in the past had claimed that 40 percent of the tender amount for state-funded projects is taken by BJP leaders and officials.

However, soon after the matter came to the notice of the authorities, posters in public places were removed, news agency PTI reported.

Notably, similar posters with '40 percent CM' written on them were spotted in Hyderabad last week when Bommai was there to take part in the ‘Hyderabad Liberation day’ celebration organized by the union government.
