The Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council on Friday declared the results for examinations held for classes 10 and 12.
The overall pass percentage for class 10 students stood at 90.11 per cent, while for class 12, it was 81.15 per cent, Director of Education (Secondary) Mahendra Dev announced at the council's headquarters here.
Yash Pratap Singh from Jalaun emerged as the top scorer in the class 10 examination, securing 97.83 per cent marks, Dev said.
He said a total of 55 students secured positions among the top 10 ranks in the class 10 examination.
In the class 12 examination, Mehak Jaiswal of Bacha Ram Yadav Inter College in Prayagraj secured the top position with 97.20 per cent marks.
Dev said 30 class 12 students were among the top 10.

They said the search operation turned into an encounter after the hiding terrorists opened fire on the security forces' positions.
One terrorist associate and two policemen were injured in the firing by terrorists, the officials said, adding the injured terrorist associate later succumbed to injuries.

With the goal of promoting Sanskrit as a widely spoken language in Uttarakhand, the state government announced on Thursday a plan to teach one lakh people the language through classroom and online modes.&nbsp;
Sanskrit, the second official language of the state, will be taught in phases, with the government also working on creating job opportunities for youth who learn the language.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami outlined the government's efforts, calling for the introduction of certificate courses in 'yagya', Hindu rituals, and Vedic recitation. Additionally, the CM instructed that nodal officers be appointed in each district to facilitate the promotion of Sanskrit.
During the 10th general body meeting of the Uttarakhand Sanskrit Academy, Dhami proposed that arrangements be made to better train children in the 16 traditional sanskars (sacraments) for those studying Sanskrit. &ldquo;In the first phase, 100 children, and thereafter, every year by setting a target, the youth should be given training in the same.&nbsp;
Also, competitions will be organized to make short films on various contemporary topics in Sanskrit along with schools organizing debates, essay writing, and shlok-writing competitions in the language,&rdquo; said the CM.
He also emphasized that those who play an important role in teaching, writing, preserving, and promoting Sanskrit should be honored monetarily. Additionally, he proposed that nameplates in all government offices be displayed in Sanskrit.
Sanskrit Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat shared that the government is in the process of establishing 13 Sanskrit villages, one in each district, and plans to expand this initiative to the block level in phases. He also suggested introducing scholarship schemes for Sanskrit students and providing incentives for priests to promote the language.&nbsp;
Rawat further recommended adding Sanskrit-related questions to competitive exams and stressed the importance of encouraging research in the language.
Chief Minister Dhami further emphasized the need to connect youth with employment through Sanskrit. "Certificate courses should be offered in Yagya, Karmkand, and Vedas," he stated.&nbsp;
In the meeting, he reiterated the importance of training children in Sanskrit and proposed the monetary recognition of those contributing to the preservation and promotion of Sanskrit. Dhami also emphasized Uttarakhand&rsquo;s cultural significance as the land of Yoga, Ayurveda, saints, and Sanskrit. He proposed organizing Sanskrit debates, essay writing, and Shloka recitation competitions in schools and colleges to promote the language.
As part of the effort to promote Sanskrit, Cabinet Minister Dhan Singh Rawat revealed that 13 villages will be developed as Sanskrit villages, with one village in every district. He suggested offering scholarships to students and incentive schemes for priests to further the promotion of Sanskrit across the state. Committee members also recommended adding Sanskrit-related questions to competitive exams and promoting research in the language.

India on Wednesday announced a raft of measures against Pakistan, including expulsion of Pakistani military attaches, suspension of the Indus Water Treaty of 1960 and immediate shutting down of the Attari land-transit post.
The Cabinet Committee on Security headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi firmed up the punitive measures against Pakistan in view of the cross-border links to the Pahalgam terror attack on Tuesday that killed 26 people.
India has given a befitting reply to Pakistan by suspending the Indus Water Treaty, Dhami said.
"By putting on hold the Indus Water Treaty, the Centre has made it clear that blood and water cannot flow together. This decisive decision will shatter the plans of Pakistan, which shelters and promotes terrorism. Similarly, other decisions including the closure of Attari border check post have also sent a strong message to Pakistan," he said.
The chief minister further said these "bold steps" are not only an assertion of India's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism but have also sent a clear message to the enemies that India is ready to give a befitting reply to every terrorist attack.

A mock drill was conducted here on Thursday to assess the preparations for the Char Dham Yatra that is scheduled to begin with the opening of the Gangotri and Yamunotri temples for devotees on April 30.
The seven districts through which the yatra passes were involved in the exercise to test the preparedness on the ground, Vice Chairman, State Advisory Committee, Disaster Management department, Vinay Kumar Ruhela said.
The mock drill will help make the preparations for the yatra more robust and foolproof, he added.
It was organised by the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) under the close supervision of the National Disaster Management Authority, Ruhela said.
The objective of the mock drill was to bring all the departments involved in the pilgrimage on one platform, so that any disaster and emergency situation during the yatra can be dealt with effectively.
"We have been successful to a great extent in this objective," Ruhela said.
Good coordination and synergy was seen between the departments concerned, he said, adding that certain shortcomings were also found during the exercise and those will be rectified by the departments before the yatra begins.
The four famed Himalayan temples of Uttarakhand on the yatra route are Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.&nbsp;

The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has experienced remarkable growth in land allotments across various categories, according to state government data released on Thursday.&nbsp;
"Plot allotments surged by approximately 320%, land allotments by 360%, and employment generation by nearly 350%. Simultaneously, UPSIDA's operating revenue more than tripled, underscoring the state's rapid industrial advancement and growing investor confidence," a government spokesperson said.
In the period from 2017&ndash;18 to 2024&ndash;25, the number of industrial plots allotted rose from 191 to 798, marking a 318% increase. Similarly, the land allocated for industries grew from 114 acres to 526 acres, a notable improvement.&nbsp;
Employment opportunities generated by UPSIDA also saw a significant rise. From 11,570 jobs in 2017&ndash;18, the figure jumped to 51,761 in 2024&ndash;25, a 347% increase, reflecting UPSIDA&rsquo;s key role in empowering the youth and bolstering the state&rsquo;s industrial ecosystem.
UPSIDA's financial performance mirrored this growth. The authority&rsquo;s operating revenue skyrocketed from Rs 586 crore in 2019&ndash;20 to Rs 1,900 crore in 2024&ndash;25&mdash;an increase of more than three times. This surge in revenue highlights UPSIDA's efficient management and the increasing trust investors have in Uttar Pradesh&rsquo;s industrial potential.
Over the past eight years, UPSIDA has played a pivotal role in transforming industrial infrastructure, positioning Uttar Pradesh as one of India&rsquo;s top industrial states. By fostering a transparent, streamlined, and investor-friendly environment in line with state industrial policies, UPSIDA continues to drive sustainable and inclusive growth.

During a review meeting on Thursday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the importance of the scheme in supporting families from marginalized sections of society. He stressed the need to expand its reach, stating, "The mass marriage scheme has become a significant support for underprivileged sections.&nbsp;
To ensure that more people can benefit from it, we should consider increasing the annual income limit from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh."
Additionally, the Chief Minister highlighted the increased financial assistance under the scheme.&nbsp;
From April 1, financial aid has been raised from Rs 51,000 to Rs 1 lakh per couple. The breakdown of the funds is as follows: Rs 60,000 will be transferred directly to the bride&rsquo;s bank account, Rs 25,000 will be allotted for gifts, and Rs 15,000 will be allocated for wedding arrangements.&nbsp;
CM Adityanath directed immediate implementation of these changes, noting that funds have already been allocated in the current year&rsquo;s budget.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the status of the old-age pension scheme and instructed officials to link it with the Family ID scheme. This integration aims to ensure that no eligible person is excluded from receiving benefits.&nbsp;
"We must ensure that no eligible elderly person is deprived of their pension. Linking the scheme to the Family ID will ensure automatic pension disbursal once an eligible destitute elderly person turns 60," he remarked. He also urged the swift completion of technical arrangements to expand pension coverage through the Family ID system.

The Yogi Adityanath government has prepared the draft of the new UP Leather and Footwear Policy-2025 and it is set to be rolled out soon.
The draft of the new policy is finalised and awaits approval, the government said in a statement on Thursday. The policy is expected to give a push to Uttar Pradesh's target of becoming a USD 1 trillion economy.
Aligned with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's vision of transforming the state into 'Udyam Pradesh', the policy aims to scale up production, boost exports, enhance global brand presence in the leather and footwear sector and increase the state's revenue, it said.
Kanpur, already renowned as a key hub for leather and footwear exports in India and globally, will play a central role in this strategic push, it added.
"The new policy will accelerate the development of leather and footwear clusters and promote the establishment of private industrial parks across the state. Developers investing in such parks will benefit from attractive incentives, including capital subsidies and 100 per cent stamp duty exemptions," the government said.
Under the policy, parks developed on 25-100 acres will be eligible for up to Rs 45 crore in capital subsidies, parks over 100 acres can receive up to Rs 80 crore. All parks must be completed within five years, and at least 25 per cent of the land must be allocated to green and open spaces, the government added.
"Investors will be required to invest a minimum of Rs 150-200 crore depending on the nature of the unit (plant, cluster, or park), potentially generating 1,000-3,000 new jobs per unit. For every Rs 1 crore invested, the state expects to create 20 employment opportunities," it stated.
Notably, Uttar Pradesh contributes 46 per cent of India's total leather exports, with Agra, Kanpur, and Unnao as the leading centres.
Agra is recognised as the footwear capital, while Kanpur is a global hub for safety footwear, leather accessories, and garments. Emerging centres such as Lucknow and Bareilly are also poised for rapid growth under the new policy, it said.
Tamil Nadu is the only other state with a dedicated footwear and leather policy, so Uttar Pradesh's initiative marks a bold and strategic move to cement its leadership in the sector, it noted.
"The Uttar Pradesh Leather and Footwear Policy-2025 is set to unlock new opportunities, generate massive employment, and catalyze industrial development, ushering in a new era of economic growth for the state," the government said.

The aim is to align young people's skills with the demands of a rapidly evolving technological landscape, the government said in a statement.
"To facilitate this, the Backward Classes Welfare Department is preparing a comprehensive proposal and initiating the budget approval process. The rollout of this revamped training initiative is planned for the financial year 2025-26," it said.
"This move will boost technical proficiency, enhance employability, and promote innovation in key sectors like startups, security, agriculture, education, and administration," it added.
Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Backward Classes Welfare and Disabled Empowerment, Narendra Kashyap emphasised that the Yogi Adityanath government is committed to inclusive development by ensuring participation of all sections of the society.
"As part of this vision, the free technical training provided to the OBC youth will now include advanced and industry-relevant courses," he said.
The new framework involves a complete overhaul of the existing training curriculum -- until now focused on O-Level and CCC courses -- by introducing modern modules and updating trainers' expertise. Training institutes will be freshly empanelled to meet the new requirements, he added.
Additionally, physical verification of beneficiaries has been mandated to ensure transparency and authenticity. A robust monitoring and feedback system is also being implemented to track the progress and implementation, the minister said.
In FY 2024-25, the scheme trained 29,769 youths, incurring a government expenditure of Rs 32.92 crore, the statement added.&nbsp;

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, has informed that a total of 230 Booth Level Agents-1 (BLA-1) have been appointed so far across the state, marking a significant step towards ensuring transparency and preparedness for the upcoming elections.
Booth Level Agents play a crucial role in the electoral process. They serve as the direct link between political parties and the booth-level electoral machinery, assisting in the verification of electoral rolls, raising objections if required, and ensuring that the polling process is conducted fairly and efficiently.
Making an appeal to political parties, Punjab Chief Electoral Officer, Sibin C, said, &ldquo;We urge all political parties to expedite the appointment of Booth Level Agents. Their active participation is essential for ensuring the integrity of the electoral rolls and the overall fairness of the election process. A well-informed and present BLA strengthens the very foundation of democracy.&rdquo;
The appointment of BLA-1 is made at the District level, and it is mandatory for every recognized political party through its President or Secretary or any other office bearer of shall authorize one district representative to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs). Each BLA-1 is also responsible for appointing BLA-2 at the Booth level, further enhancing grassroots-level oversight and coordination.
The office of CEO, Punjab is working in close coordination with all recognized political parties to ensure full and timely appointment of BLAs. Parties are encouraged to complete the remaining appointments at the earliest to facilitate seamless collaboration with Booth Level Officers (BLOs), support voter awareness, and strengthen roll purification and verification efforts across the state.

Reaffirming the Punjab Government&rsquo;s commitment to providing quality and hassle-free healthcare facilities to its citizens, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh on Thursday conducted a surprise inspection at Aam Aadmi Clinic at Urban Estate in Patiala and Civil Hospital Rajpura.
During his visit, the Health Minister interacted with patients to assess their well-being and gather feedback on the facilities being provided at government healthcare centres. Patients expressed satisfaction with the medical care, acknowledging the significant improvements made under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Dr Balbir Singh emphasised that the government&rsquo;s efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure have restored public trust, with more people now preferring government facilities for reliable and cost-effective treatment. Notably, as many as 80 types of medicines and 38 types of diagnostic tests are being provided free of cost at 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics across the state.
&ldquo;The Aam Aadmi Clinics and Civil Hospitals are transforming Punjab&rsquo;s healthcare system. Our aim is to ensure that every citizen receives timely, efficient, and free medical services without any inconvenience,&rdquo; said Dr Balbir Singh.
At Rajpura Civil Hospital, the Health Minister witnessed the growing public confidence in government healthcare, with a number of patients availing services. Pointing out patient rush outside the Medicine OPD and Pharmacy, Dr Balbir Singh immediately directed officials to optimise crowd management by deploying nursing and ITI students for better queue systems. He also assured additional pharma officers and support staff to further streamline operations at the facility.
Meanwhile, the Health Minister directed officials to maintain high standards of patient care and ensure that all facilities function smoothly. He reiterated the government&rsquo;s zero-tolerance policy towards negligence and warned of strict action against any lapses in service delivery.

In a video clip that has now gone viral, Pakistan's defence minister is in conversation with Sky News's Yalda Hakim, when she asks him, "But you do admit, you do admit, sir, that Pakistan has had a long history of backing and supporting and training and funding these terrorist organisations?
Khwaja Asif in his reply says, "We have been doing this dirty work for the United States for about 3 decades... and the west, including Britain...That was a mistake, and we suffered for that, and that is why you are saying this to me. If we had not joined the war against the Soviet Union and later on the war after 9/11, Pakistan's track record was unimpeachable."
Pakistan's Defence Minister has also, in the interview, warned of an "all-out war" possible with India.
Asif's statement lays bare the fact that Pakistan, for many years, has been harbouring these terror groups, ANI said.
Earlier, India's foreign secretary Vikram Misri had said that in the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security, the cross-border linkages of the terrorist attack were brought out.

It was noted that this attack came in the wake of the successful holding of elections in the Union Territory and its steady progress towards economic growth and development.
Following the terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people, the Central government announced several diplomatic measures, such as closing the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari, suspending the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) for Pakistani nationals, giving them 40 hours to return to their country, and reducing the number of officers in the High Commissions on both sides.
India also halted the Indus Waters Treaty signed in 1960 in the wake of the Pahalgam attack.

The Prime Minister asserted that the time has come to eliminate the remaining strongholds of terrorism and that the willpower of 140 crore Indians will now break the backbone of the perpetrators of terror.

Strongly condemning the barbaric Pahalgam terror attack, Punjab Good Governance and Information Technology Minister and Aam Aadmi Party's State President Mr. Aman Arora on Thursday paid tributes to those killed in the attack besides expressing deep grief and solidarity with the bereaved families for enormous and irreparable loss caused to them.
He urged the Union Government to strike tough against terror activities to eliminate the perpetrators of Pahalgam at their homes. He said the countrymen are standing rock solid with the aggrieved families in this hour of grief and severe crisis, and praying god to give strength to them to bear this huge loss, besides, seeking justice for them. "We pay tributes to the civilians killed in a one of the heinous and deadliest terror attacks and prayed for peace to the departed souls" he added.
The Minister mentioned that it is high time to teach a lesson to those behind this inhumane and cowardly act of killing innocent civilians thus a befitting reply is need of the hour against this dastardly act of terrorists. Mr Aman Arora said it is the worst ever terror attack, which has been strongly condemned across the globe. The nation is in the mourning as all of us lost 26 civilians visiting the valley for tourism, he added.
Referring to a media query, Mr. Aman Arora pointed out concern over the lack of intelligence input and non-deployment of sufficient number of armed forces in the highly vulnerable places of the valley. As many as 1,80,000 posts are lying vacant in the army, said Mr Aman Arora emphasised that these vacancies must be filled to safeguard the countrymen from internal and external aggressions and terror activities.
He said someone must own the responsibility of security lapses as no one could shy away by merely giving statements. It was also shocking that the family members of those killed raised questions for not responding even after one and half hour by the security forces while there should have been adequate number of forces deployed in wake of any exigency at such a major tourist spot of the country, said Mr Aman Arora, adding that the country needs a full time Home Minister as the incumbent one was busy in forming and toppling Governments in the country. Mr Arora said that it is the responsibility of the Home Minister to ensure safety and security of 140 crore population so the country requires 24X7 Home Minister for this purpose.
