Arvind Kejriwal pre-election appeal to women: ‘Don’t serve dinner to men who support Modi’

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made an unusual election pitch to female voters at a Mahila Samman Samaroh, urging them to not serve dinner to their husbands if they support PM Narendra Modi.

The Aam Aadmi Party leader also told women to ask their family members to swear upon them to support his party in the upcoming elections. Kerjiwal branded AAP’s new financial aid scheme as "real women empowerment."

“Many men are chanting PM Modi's name, but you have to set it right. If your husband chants Modi's name, tell him you won't serve him dinner,” Kerjiwal said at the event.

Highlighting the importance of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana, Kejriwal said that it will make the women empowered in the truest sense and stated that every eligible women even from the same family can avail the benefit of the scheme.

Taking a jibe at the opposition, Kejriwal said, "They say this scheme will spoil women. They say Kejriwal is wasting the money by giving Rs 1,000 to every woman in the city. I ask them, "When you waive off big loans of a lot of people, weren't they spoiled?" The chief minister urged the women voters to vote for the Aam Aadmi Party in the general elections.

"It is your responsibility now to convince your husbands, brothers, fathers and other people in the locality to vote for the person who is working for their benefit," Kejriwal said.
