Delhi budget caught in latest crossfire between Centre and AAP govt

The Arvind Kejriwal-led govt of Delhi will not be presenting the annual budget in the assembly on March 21. AAP claimed that Delhi budget has been 'put on hold' as the Union Home Ministry has not approved it.

The Home Ministry, however, said that it is yet to receive a reply from the Delhi govt on questions raised by it about ad expenditure.

Countering the statement, AAP said that the Home Ministry letter was sent to Delhi's Chief Secretery on March 17 but was given to the Delhi govt only on the evening of March 20. It added that the file was sent back to the Lieutenant Governor by 9pm. That is a day ahead of the Budget presentation.

Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena's office responded by saying that it received the file at 9.25 pm and sent it back with necessary approval at 10.05 pm.
