      How wealthy are India's political parties? And who's the richest of them all?

      An analysis by the Association for Democratic Reforms has reportedly found that the Bharatiya Janata Party tops the list with assets worth Rs 4,847.78 crore in financial year 2019-20, as per reports.

      The seven national parties declared total assets of Rs 6,988.57 crore. The BJP's share is almost 70% of this, as per reports. In the second position is Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party, with assets worth Rs 698.33 crore. Congress follows with Rs 588.16 crore or just over 8% of the total.

      Meanwhile, forty-four regional parties had total assets worth Rs 2,129.38 crore in 2019-20, as per the ADR report.

      The Samajwadi Party topped the regional party list with Rs 563.47 crore in assets. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi came second with Rs 301.47 crore. All India Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam or AIADMK came third with Rs 267.61 crore.

      The total liabilities declared by the seven national parties amounted to Rs 74.27 crore, as per ADR. Congress had the highest share of liabilities with Rs 49.55 crore. Regional parties had total liabilities worth Rs 60.66 crore in 2019-20.
