Days after Congress decided to stick with the Gandhis even after another a crushing defeat in Assembly polls, senior party leader Kapil Sibal has hit out at the leadership.

In a no-hold-barred interview with The Indian Express, Sibal said that the "Congress is living in cuckoo land" if it still needs a "chintan shivir" to figure out the reasons for its constant electoral decline.

To the question on the change in leadership and need for Sonia and Rahul Gandhi to step down, Sibal said that he wants a ‘sab ki Congress’.

"Some others want a ‘Ghar ki Congress’. I certainly don’t want a ‘Ghar ki Congress’. And I will fight for a ‘sab ki Congress’ till my last breath. This ‘sab ki Congress’ means just not getting together, but getting together all those people in India who don’t want the BJP," the leader who is part of the dissident G23 group within the Congress said.

Reacting to the CWC demand that Rahul Gandhi should become the president of the Congress again, Sibal asserted that he was already the de-facto president who is taking all the decision. "In what capacity did Rahul Gandhi announced Charanjit Singh Channi as Congress CM face in Punjab?" he asked.

Calling for change at the top, Sibal said "the leadership should leave this space for somebody else who will be elected and not nominated".

Sibal also lashed out at the Congress leadership for not using the talent of the "likes of P Chidambaram, Shashi Tharoor and Manish Tewari in Parliament" much more.
