No doubt Rahul Gandhi's 'surname' remarks defamatory: BJP on defamation verdict

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday launched an attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his 'truth is my God' tweet, following the verdict passed by the Surat district court against him in a criminal defamation case filed over his alleged 'Modi' surname remark.

Speaking to reporters in the national capital, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "does believing in truth and non-violence mean humiliating people?"

He further said that as per Indian Law if an individual or an organisation has been defamed with scandalous comments, or defamatory remarks then they have a right to seek redressal. But Congress wants complete freedom for Rahul Gandhi to hurl abuses.
