The row over breach in security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Punjab visit on Wednesday reached Supreme Court on Thursday.

Senior advocate Maninder Singh mentioned the matter before CJI NV Ramana in Supreme Court, demanding a probe. The court has asked Singh to serve a copy of the petition to the Central and Punjab governments. The court is likely to hear the plea on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Government has constituted a high-level committee to thoroughly investigate the lapses that occurred suring the PM's visit.

The committee comprises of a retired judge and top government officials and has been directed to submit its report within three days.

On Wednesday, PM Modi's cavalcade was stuck on a flyover after he decided to take the road route to Ferozepur from Bathinda airport due to bad weather. The PM returned to the airport as the protesters didn't let the PM's convoy move.

Terming it a major security breach, the home ministry has sought a report from the Punjab government and has asked it to fix accountability.

The Congress led Punjab government, however, has refuted the security breach, saying that there were only peaceful protesters on the road.
