Rajasthan: BJP's 'India-Australia cricket match' jibe at Congress over Gehlot-Pilot CM tussle

The crisis gripping the Congress government in Rajasthan invited sharp reactions from the Bharatiya Janata Party on 25 September 2022. MLAs loyal to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot are trying to block rival Sachin Pilot's bid to become CM in the event of Gehlot being elected the Congress party president.

Deputy leader of Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly, Rajendra Rathore said that the situation in the state was fir for President's Rule. He accused Ashok Gehlot of "doing drama", and asked him to resign like the rest of the Cabinet.

BJP's Rajasthan unit president Satish Poonia said that so much suspense was not even part of the India-Australia cricket match on 25 September. He called the mass resignation threat "political hypocrisy", and said that the state was in god's hands now.

Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat made a veiled reference to resort politics by saying that the "government of camps" was ready to go back to "camps" again.
