The Congress Working Committee unanimously rejected the Gandhis' offer to quit: leader 

Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka were ready to sacrifice posts for the party: Congress leader

Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi along with her family members Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra proposed to resign during the Congress Working Committee meeting on Sunday. The Congress Working Committee, however, unanimously rejected this, a senior party leader said.

Speaking to ANI, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were ready to sacrifice their posts for the party.

Congress Working Committee called the recent assembly election results of five states a "cause of serious concern" for the party.

Party general secretary KC Venugopal Congress will also hold a Chintan Shivir immediately after the Budget Session of Parliament and before that the Congress Working Committee will meet again.

Sonia Gandhi will immediately take up immediate corrective measures to revamp and re-strengthen organisation, he informed.

Congress' chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said every Congress worker and leader wants Rahul Gandhi to lead the party, but as the process of organisational polls is underway, the next president will be decided through it.
