Stone thrown at Kejriwal in Gujarat, claims AAP; police deny

With just days to go for the first phase of voting in Gujarat, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal claimed that a stone was thrown at him by Bharatiya Janata Party workers on 28 November 2022.

A physical altercation reportedly broke out between AAP and BJP workers during Kejriwal's roadshow in Surat. AAP said that BJP workers chanted 'Modi, Modi' when Kejriwal's convoy was passing through the Katargam locality, and a stone was also thrown.

However, Gujarat police contested the claim, saying that no stones were thrown.
Police admitted that a "minor scuffle" took place between party workers, but the rally concluded "peacefully". They added that Kejriwal had been provided Z-plus security in the 4-km roadshow with paramilitary personnel.

Kejriwal subsequently addressed a rally and promised to offer flowers in place of stones, waive electricity bills, and provide good education.

Gujarat is set to vote on December 1 and 5, with results being declared on December 8.
