Sukhu junks resignation rumours as Himachal Assembly adjourned sine die

Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on 28th February said he has not resigned as the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh even as his government risks losing majority after some Congress MLAs cross-voted in the Rajya Sabha polls.

Calling himself a fighter, Sukhu said his party will prove a majority in the Vidhan Sabha.

"I am a fighter. I hail from a humble family. We will win this battle and also prove a majority in the Vidhan Sabha," he told mediapersons here.

Six Congress MLAs voted in favour of the BJP candidate in the Rajya Sabha polls in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday with sources claiming they are "disappointed" with the working style of Chief Minister Sukhu.

Meanwhile, the state assembly was adjourned sine die after passing the Budget for 2024-25.

The Budget was passed in the absence of BJP members as 15 of them were suspended and the remaining ten staged a walk out.

The budget was presented on February 17, 2024 by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who also holds the finance portfolio.

Discussions on the budget were held for four days from February 19 to 22.
