'The Diary of West Bengal': director expresses concern for safety after police notice

Sanoj Mishra, the director of 'The Diary of West Bengal' has said he is concerned about his safety after the police issued a notice to him alleging that he is trying to defame the state through his film. He has been asked to come for questioning on May 30.

'Bengal Police wants to arrest me. I haven't done anything, I am not a criminal. I can be jailed to suppress the voice of truth and anything can happen to me in jail,' Mishra said.

Defending his film 'The Diary of West Bengal', Mishra said he is only trying to show the truth about appeasement politics in the state. The film reportedly revolves around Rohingya and Bangladeshi refugees in West Bengal.

'We have tried to show how the people of Bengal don't have govt support because of appeasement politics. So our film is based on appeasement politics and vote-bank politics. The film is based on facts and true events. We have all the evidence,' the director added.
