During his Delhi visit, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar commented on speculation that he would be one of the Prime Ministerial contenders in 2024. Interacting with the media on 5 September 2022, Nitish Kumar said that he has no desire or ambition to become the Prime Minister.

The Janata Dal (United) party leader said that he wants maximum Opposition unity, with as many parties as possible coming together for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

This is Nitish's first trip to Delhi after dumping the BJP as an ally in Bihar, and reuniting with the RJD and Congress to form a 'Mahagathbandhan' government in the state.

Nitish Kumar met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on 5 September. He is expected to meet other Opposition leaders like NCP's Sharad Pawar, AAP's Arvind Kejriwal, SP's Akhilesh Yadav, and JDS' HD Kumaraswamy.
