AAP's Kuldeep Kumar assumes charge as Chandigarh mayor

Days after continuous drama, Chandigarh Mayor Kuldeep Kumar assumed his charge officially today at the Mayor's office at the Municipal Corporation building in the presence of AAP and Congress leaders.

Talking to media persons, Kuldeep Kumar announced that he would work in days and nights for the welfare of Chandigarh residents. He also said that soon he would bring the resolution in the House regarding free water supply of upto 20,000 litres to Chandigarh residents.

On this occasion, Dr Sunny Ahluwalia, Chandigarh Congress president HS Lucky, former railway minister Pawan Bansal, and councilors of AAP greeted Kuldeep Kumar.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Kuldeep Kumar said that it was the victory of truth.

He added, “The way democracy was murdered by BJP on January 30 by cancelling 8 votes of its nominated councillor and presiding officer Anil Masih. While giving its verdict, the Honorable Supreme Court has said that this kind of open murder of democracy will not be tolerated. He said that the Supreme Court declaring 8 votes valid is a victory for democracy. I thank the Honorable Supreme Court, which has kept democracy alive.”

He further said that after formally assuming the post of Mayor today, development will be done in every area of the entire Chandigarh city.
