Punjab government to reinstate 10.77 lakh cards removed from Food Security Scheme

In a significant decision, the Punjab government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's leadership, has reinstated 10.77 lakh cards previously removed from the Food Security Scheme.

Announcing this after a cabinet meeting, Mann assured that the beneficiaries would receive free ration starting this month. Additionally, a new scheme for simplified schoolteacher transfers was approved. The CM yogshalas will now extend to 15 more cities.

Widows of defense personnel who died in action will see an increased pension from Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000 per month. The Farishtay scheme is set to launch on January 27.

JPS Aulakh's nomination as the PPSC chairman has been cleared by the cabinet and awaits the Governor's approval. Mann emphasized efforts to make Punjab economically self-sufficient amid challenges from the BJP-led Centre.
