Revealed: Result of India-China 14th military meeting to resolve Ladakh tension

A marathon 13-hour meeting. And still no outcome. Indian and Chinese military officers held their 14th round of talks regarding the tension in Ladakh on January 12.

However, reports suggest that no concrete or positive resolution was reached even as both sides agreed to keep working towards mutually acceptable solutions to the stand-off along the Line of Actual Control.

The areas still awaiting peaceful disengagement are Gogra-Hot Springs, Depsang Bulge in Daulat Beg Oldie sector, and Charding Nullah Junction in Demchok, as per reports.

On the same day as the talks, the Indian Army chief General MM Naravane said that Chinese threat in the region has not reduced. He also rejected Beijing's new aggressive border law.

The last round of talks was held in October 2021 with a similar, non-conclusive result. The Indian government had then said that the Chinese side was 'not agreeable' to suggestions to resolve tension in the remaining areas, and had also not provided any 'forward-looking proposals'.

Since summer of 2020, Indian and Chinese troops have been eyeball-to-eyeball in many areas along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh after Beijing's aggressive moves in the region.

Since then, disengagement of troops has occurred at some points like Galwan Valley, and north and south banks of Pangong Tso, as per reports.
