Stone pelting in Bihar's Darbhanga after brawl over Saraswati idol immersion

The police and district officials had to be called in after an argument over immersion of Saraswati idols led to violence in Bihar's Darbhanga.

According to District Magistrate Rajeev Raushan, two groups started quarrelling over which turn needs to be taken by the immersion procession.

Saraswati Puja was celebrated in parts of the country on February 14.

Raushan said that the police and district officials brought the situation under control and the immersion was completed.

He said that there was stone pelting during the brawl and sheds of some houses were also damaged in the violence.

Raushan said that the culprits will be identied and action will taken against them. He also urged the public to celebrate festivals with the spirit of harmony.
