After Supreme Court flagged ‘serious concern’, Tamil Nadu Governor returns 10 Bills

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi is once again in the spotlight. He has reportedly sent back 10 Assembly-approved bills in the last three years, increasing friction with Chief Minister MK Stalin and his party.

Media reports say these bills come back to the Assembly, which now plans to re-approve them without making any amendments.

An unnamed source has told the Deccan Herald that bills blocked by the CM were related to the establishment of a new institution called Siddha University. “The government has decided to reenact these bills without any changes,” the source told DH.

Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M Appavu also spoke on the matter. “The special session has been convened to reenact the bills. The government wanted the session to be convened,” he said.

The anti–NET bill has been a friction point between the DMK and Tamil Nadu governor. It was rejected by the governor and has now been handed to President Droupadi Murmu.
