Thick layer of fog engulfs Delhi, over 50 flights delayed at airport

A layer of thick fog shrouded Delhi and the national capital region on January 31 morning. The visibility was significantly low causing problems for the commuters.

More than 50 flights delayed at the Indira Gandhi International due to the bad weather.

At least five flights were diverted to different destinations due to the fog situation.

Out of these, three were diverted to Jaipur in Rajasthan and one each to Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Mumbai in Maharashtra.

Several trains were also running late at railway stations across NCR.

Visuals from around different places in Delhi have shown people swarming around bonfires to keep themselves warm.

Speaking to the ANI, a resident in the Red Fort area expressed the difficulties people are facing as buses are running late and, in some parts, public vehicles are not even available owing to the chilling weather.
