Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a ground inspection of the Herbert Bandha Four-Lane Road project in Gorakhpur on Sunday and approved development projects worth over Rs 700 crores aimed at improving connectivity in the region.&nbsp;
While addressing the gathering at the inspection event, CM Adityanath highlighted the benefits of improved road connectivity, stating, "Those who want to get from Herbert Bandha to Domingargh - previously, there was no system on the railway line; a person could not go from Herbert Bandha to Madhopur embankment... Now, a system is being made that, from Transport Nagar to Domingarh, there will be a four-lane road and then in Domingarh, a new railway overbridge is being constructed. After that, from Herbert Bandha, action will be taken to connect the Madhavpur embankment with a four-lane road to Maheshra. Then the entire road till Maheshra will get excellent four-lane connectivity from outside to Gorakhpur... This applies to passengers as well as freight vehicles."
The planned four-lane road from Gorakhpur's Rajghat Bridge to Domingarh will cover approximately four kilometers and be built at a cost of Rs 195 crore. CM Yogi further explained that the second stretch, from Domingarh to Mahesara via Madhopur, will span about ten kilometers, costing an estimated Rs 380 crore. Additionally, a railway overbridge in Domingarh will be constructed for Rs 132 crore.&nbsp;
"For this, three big projects are being given... Gorakhpur Rajghat Bridge to Domingarh: A four-kilometre, four-lane road will be built for Rs 195 crore. Similarly, the Domingarh to Madhavpur embankment up to Maheshra, about a ten-kilometre road, will be built at a cost of about Rs 380 crore. In Domingargh, a railway overbridge will be constructed, which will cost Rs 132 crore," he added.&nbsp;
These projects, totaling over Rs 700 crore, are designed to strengthen transportation and ease movement within and around Gorakhpur.
CM Adityanath also emphasized the importance of widening and strengthening roads in Gorakhpur, along with the construction of new four-lane roads and an overbridge.&nbsp;
Sharing updates on social media, he wrote, "Today I participated in the program organized for the on-site inspection of the widening and strengthening of roads in Gorakhpur district, new construction of 4-lane road, and construction of an overbridge."&nbsp;
He added, "Giving further impetus to the prosperity journey of Gorakhpur, development works worth more than Rs 700 crores have been approved for the public. Hearty congratulations to the people of the district!"
Earlier on Sunday, CM Yogi's office issued a statement in response to the storm, hailstorm, and lightning that affected the region.&nbsp;
The statement read, "In view of the storm, hailstorm, and lightning, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath directed the officers of the concerned districts to conduct relief work promptly. The officers should visit the area, conduct a survey, and monitor the relief work."&nbsp;
It also instructed that in the case of loss of life or animals due to the disaster, the relief amount should be distributed immediately to the affected, and the injured should receive proper treatment. CM Yogi further directed that officials assess crop damage and send reports to the government for further action. For areas facing waterlogging, he ordered the prioritization of drainage arrangements.

After landing at Ghatampur, Adityanath inspected the thermal power project plant and gave the necessary instructions to the officials concerned regarding the project, they said.
The power plant's total production capacity is 3 X 660 MW while the production capacity of the first unit, which is ready for inauguration, is 660 MW.
The total cost of this project is Rs 21780 crore while the cost of the first unit for inauguration is Rs 9337.68 crore, they said.
The Chief minister later went to the newly constructed Nayaganj Metro station and also travelled by metro from Nayaganj to Rawatpur station. He also inspected the venue at Chandrashekhar Azad (CSA) University ground where the PM Modi will hold a public meeting.
Akhil Kumar, Commissioner of Police, put the detailed presentation before the chief minister about the security arrangements for the VVIP visit, an official said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said the state government is actively monitoring the situation in several districts affected by storms, rain, and hailstorms, and assured citizens that their safety remains the administration's top priority.
He said officials in affected districts have been instructed to conduct field surveys and carry out relief work with full urgency.
"Dear residents of the state, there have been reports of storms, rainfall, and hailstorms from various districts. However, there is no need to panic. The safety of every citizen is the government's foremost concern," he said on X.

"In cases of human or livestock casualties, officials have been directed to immediately disburse compensation and ensure proper medical treatment for the injured," the chief minister said.
Referring to the ongoing government wheat procurement, Adityanath directed officials to ensure the safe storage of wheat at all procurement centres and mandis. He also asked them to assess crop damage and submit detailed reports to the government for further action.
Additionally, the chief minister instructed that arrangements for water drainage be made on a priority basis in affected areas.
Isolated rain and thundershowers were reported in parts of both western and eastern Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, according to the weather department.
Similar weather is expected to continue on Friday, with warnings of gusty winds reaching 40 to 50 km/hr in some areas. The forecast indicates that these conditions may persist through Saturday and Sunday.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister is set to lay the foundation stone for the largest night shelter in eastern Uttar Pradesh at AIIMS Gorakhpur on Friday (April 18), as per a statement from the Chief Minister&rsquo;s Office on Wednesday.
The facility, designed to accommodate up to 500 individuals, is being developed at a cost of Rs 44 crore. The Power Grid Corporation of India is funding the construction under its corporate social responsibility initiative.
CM Yogi will initiate the project with a ground-breaking ceremony. The night shelter is intended to provide relief to patients and their attendants who travel from distant areas for treatment at AIIMS Gorakhpur.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed officials to allow the expansion of private e-bus operators to other nearby towns.
Chairing a high-level review meeting with the Urban Development Department, the Chief Minister, according to an official statement, emphasised the need to connect the major towns and cities for the convenience of the general public.
"Opportunities should be provided to private e-bus operators in city transport services, while ensuring regulation of fare, designated routes and parking facilities," he said.
The CM, at the same time, stressed that diesel or CNG buses older than 15 years should be scrapped and replaced with eco-friendly electric buses.
At present, 700 e-buses are operational in 15 cities of the state.
Adityanath said that parking remains a growing issue in cities, as he called for the slots to be aligned with demand, space, and time, with uniform fees and monthly passes for employees of local businesses and offices.
He also instructed strict action against illegal parking fee collection and the removal of illegal advertisement hoardings.
"Give preference to electronic display boards instead of hazardous hoardings. Ensure no hoarding distorts or disrespects images or statues of great personalities," he said.
Adityanath instructed that municipal processes like property mutation, registration, and wills should follow a standardised procedure and fee structure across all urban local bodies.
He announced plans to upgrade all district headquarters municipal councils into "smart urban bodies," equipped with digital governance, pollution monitoring, smart lighting, smart parking, digital libraries, exhibition spaces, and renewable energy initiatives.
The budget has already been allocated, and departments have been asked to prepare detailed project plans for the development.
Drawing inspiration from the Shivalik Park developed from waste material in Prayagraj, he issued a direction for the construction of a grand Krishna Lok Park to be built in Mathura-Vrindavan and a Lav-Kush Park and a Shri Purushottam Darshan Experience Centre in Ayodhya.
Adityanath also raised concerns over increasing street dog bite cases, calling for a permanent solution.
He emphasised timely recruitment to fill vacant posts in urban bodies and urged expedited outsourcing where necessary.
Ahead of the monsoon season, he also directed all municipal bodies to improve drainage systems.

Schools across Uttar Pradesh have seen major improvements since the launch of &lsquo;Operation Kayakalp&rsquo; in 2018, an official statement on Wednesday said.
The scheme launched by the Basic Education Department aims at revamping primary and upper primary schools across the state.
Under this scheme, schools are being transformed on the basis of 19 key infrastructure parameters, including essential facilities such as clean drinking water, functional toilets, boundary walls, safe buildings and proper seating arrangements.
Through this transformation, not only are schools being developed as model educational institutions, but they are also becoming the most exemplary buildings in their respective gram sabhas, the statement said.
According to the Basic Education Department, out of the 19 set parameters for upgrading schools, more than 80 per cent of the work has been successfully completed on 18 of them.
The statement said that 100 per cent targets have been achieved in nine key areas such as clean drinking water, toilets, blackboards and school electrification.
A report by the Basic Education Department highlights that compared to 2018, major progress has been made in school furniture supply &mdash; up from 19 per cent to 65 per cent.
Clean drinking water facilities, which stood at 67 per cent in 2018, have now reached 100% coverage.
The other facilities such as boys&rsquo; and girls&rsquo; toilets, multi-handwashing units, black/green/whiteboards, school wall painting, ramps with railings, and campus electrification have all achieved full completion, the statement said.
Even tiled toilet construction, which was just 21 per cent in 2018, reached 91 per cent by March 2025, it said.
The report further states that 98 per cent of boundary wall construction with gates and 94 per cent of kitchen renovations have been completed.
No parameter had crossed 82 per cent progress in 2018, but the state government is now moving rapidly to meet all targets, the statement said.

The project will be built at a cost of ₹44 crore, with funding support from the Power Grid Corporation of India under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. &ldquo;CM Yogi will officially kick off the project by performing the ground-breaking ceremony,&rdquo; the official statement noted.
The facility is aimed at easing the burden for patients and their family members who often travel long distances to access healthcare at AIIMS Gorakhpur.
The announcement follows a series of development activities in the region led by the Chief Minister. Recently, Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several infrastructure projects worth ₹91 crore at the Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology in Gorakhpur district.
Additionally, CM Yogi launched a major grain-based distillery plant at the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA), a project valued at ₹1,200 crore. Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said, &ldquo;This is not just a Distillery but an ethanol plant.&rdquo;
&ldquo;In the first phase, it will produce 350,000 litres of ethanol daily, with plans to increase production to 500,000 litres later on,&rdquo; he added.
Highlighting the shift in industrial momentum in the region, the Chief Minister credited the surge in investment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi&rsquo;s ethanol policy. &ldquo;Ethanol production has increased from 42 lakh litres to 177 crore litres since Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the production of ethanol from surplus sugarcane,&rdquo; he stated.
He also emphasized Gorakhpur&rsquo;s rapid industrial growth under the current administration. &ldquo;Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) has attracted over ₹15,000 crore in investments, reversing a previous lack of interest in industrial setup,&rdquo; CM Yogi remarked.
The spate of initiatives signals the state government&rsquo;s push to not only upgrade healthcare-related infrastructure but also promote economic development and industrial expansion in the region.

BSP MP Sangeeta Azad, who represents Lalganj seat from Uttar Pradesh in the outgoing Lok Sabha, joined the BJP on Monday in the presence of several senior leaders of the ruling party.
The Dalit leader was inducted into the BJP by its national general secretary Vinod Tawde, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and state BJP president Bhupendra Singh.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday denounced the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam that killed 26 people as "cowardly, unforgivable and highly condemnable".
Opposition leaders Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati also deplored the attack and asked the Centre to ensure strict action against the perpetrators.
Terrorists struck a prime tourist location of Pahalgam in south Kashmir on Tuesday, killing at least 26 people and injuring several others.

Taking to X, Adityanath said, "The terrorist attack in Pahalgam is cowardly, unforgivable and highly condemnable. My condolences to those who lost their loved ones in this tragic incident. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant salvation to the departed souls and speedy recovery to the injured."
Heavily armed terrorists walked out of the woods of Baisaran, a meadow atop a hill here, and surrounded a group of around 40 tourists. The terrorists started firing on the tourists indiscriminately, leaving multiple people dead and injuring at least 20.
Eyewitnesses claimed that as soon as the bullets started flying, the handful of locals who earn a livelihood from tourism ran for safety, leaving the tourists as sitting ducks.
Reacting to the incident, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said, "The terrorist attack in Pahalgam, a tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir, is extremely sad, condemnable and worrying. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families. The government should take this incident with utmost seriousness and take strict action."&nbsp;
Terming the incident "heart-wrenching", Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, in a post on X, said, "The horrific pictures (in the aftermath) of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir are heart-wrenching. This attack is condemnable." "The best medical services and facilities of the country should be immediately ensured for the injured. My heartfelt prayers for everyone's health and life," he said.
In another post on the social media platform, Yadav said, "The Central government needs to ensure a secure environment in Jammu and Kashmir on priority. Only then can the lives of locals and tourists remain safe. Security creates trust and a sense of unity and integrity."

Vance was accompanied by his wife Usha, and their three children -- sons Ewan and Vivek, and daughter Mirabel. The family is on a four-day visit to India.
At the airport, Vance was seen briefly interacting with Adityanath, who welcomed the guests with flowers.
The Vance family travelled by car from the airport to the Taj Mahal. The routes along their convoy's path were specially decorated, with hundreds of schoolchildren lining the streets waving both the US flag and the Tricolour.
The Vances began their India trip on Monday with a visit to the Akshardham Temple near the banks of the Yamuna before meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the latter's residence in the capital.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the 'Guru Gorakhnath Health Service Yatra 5.0' event in Lucknow on Monday, where he addressed the development of the 54 villages of the Vantangiya community.&nbsp;
CM Yogi stated that since the formation of his government in 2017, they had focused on the welfare of these villages, recognizing them and providing essential services like voting rights.&nbsp;
He added, "In 2017, after our government was formed, we thought about the 54 villages of the Vantangiya community, recognised them and also provided all facilities to them, including voting rights. Earlier, they were exploited by police."
Earlier on Sunday, CM Yogi visited Kanpur to inspect the venue for a public meeting ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit. He also convened a meeting with public representatives and officials at Chandrashekhar Agriculture University in preparation for the visit. During his trip, CM Yogi took a metro ride from Nayaganj to Rawatpur metro station in Kanpur.
Additionally, CM Yogi visited Gorakhpur to review the Herbert Bandha four-lane road project, emphasizing that it will alleviate transportation issues and ease traffic congestion.&nbsp;
Furthermore, CM Yogi approved infrastructure development projects worth over Rs 700 crore for the district. He also highlighted plans to widen and strengthen roads in Gorakhpur, along with constructing new four-lane roads and an overbridge.
In a post on X, CM Yogi shared, "Today I participated in the programme organised for the on-site inspection of the widening and strengthening of roads in Gorakhpur district, new construction of a 4-lane road, and construction of an overbridge. Giving further impetus to the prosperity journey of Gorakhpur, development works worth more than Rs 700 crores have been approved for the public. Hearty congratulations to the people of the district."

In a strategic move to boost eco-tourism and draw international attention, the Uttar Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board is organizing an international familiarisation trip (Fam Trip) from April 22 to 30.
The initiative is aimed at positioning the state as a key player in sustainable and cultural tourism.
The tour will host tourism professionals from countries including the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Australia, and India. Participants will visit prominent eco-tourism and cultural landmarks such as Chambal Safari, Dudhwa National Park, and the spiritual city of Varanasi.
The primary objective of the trip is to highlight the state's diverse natural landscapes, cultural wealth, and historic significance. &ldquo;The goal is to strengthen the state&rsquo;s position on the global tourism map and promote sustainable tourism,&rdquo; officials said.
The journey will kick off in Agra, followed by excursions to Bateshwar and the Chambal Safari. Delegates will then visit Kannauj, where they will attend a workshop on traditional perfume-making. The itinerary also features visits to Dudhwa National Park, Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, and Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, before the group heads to Lucknow to experience its rich heritage, renowned chikankari embroidery, and local cuisine, according to an official statement.
In Prayagraj, the delegation will tour the Sangam, explore historical landmarks, and enjoy a farm stay at the Planters Bungalow. The trip will wrap up in Kashi (Varanasi), featuring visits to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, the Ganga Aarti, and various local art and craft centers.

Uttar Pradesh&rsquo;s sugar industry is set to play a key role in fulfilling Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath&rsquo;s vision of transforming the state into a one-trillion-dollar economy.&nbsp;
The state government has set an ambitious target to boost the Gross Value Output (GVO) of the sugar sector from Rs 1.32 lakh crore to over Rs 1.62 lakh crore within the next three years. This growth is in line with the state's ongoing efforts to revitalize its agricultural and industrial sectors.
According to officials from the sugar industry and sugarcane development department, the GVO has seen steady growth over recent years, climbing from Rs 1,24,198 crore in FY 2023&ndash;24 to Rs 1,32,024 crore in FY 2024&ndash;25. As part of its strategic plan, the department aims to increase sugarcane production by 7% and jaggery production by 10% by the year 2027&ndash;28.
To achieve these goals, a comprehensive action plan has been outlined for the current financial year. Key initiatives include improving the sugar recovery rate from 9.56% to 10.50%, ensuring the timely sale of 91.54 lakh quintals, and expanding the sector&rsquo;s storage capacity. These measures are designed to enhance productivity and ensure that Uttar Pradesh remains a leader in the sugar industry.
The Yogi government has also focused on improving the livelihoods of sugarcane farmers in the state. Over the years, the government has reached out to 65 lakh registered farmers, with 46.5 lakh receiving direct benefits.&nbsp;
In a recent move, the government disbursed Rs 2.80 lakh crore in sugarcane dues, a step expected to significantly improve the financial stability of these farmers and bolster the overall agricultural economy.
