Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been ranked 32nd in the list of the 100 most powerful Indian personalities, released by The Indian Express.
This marks a significant jump from his 61st position last year, reflecting his growing influence in Indian politics.
UCC Implementation: A Model for Other States
The Indian Express attributed Dhami’s rise in the rankings primarily to his successful implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand. The report highlights that Uttarakhand’s UCC has set an example for other states, with Gujarat already forming a committee to explore its implementation.
Political Stability Under Dhami’s Leadership
The newspaper also credited Dhami’s leadership for restoring political stability in Uttarakhand. Between 2017 and 2022, the state saw frequent changes in chief ministers, but under CM Dhami, stability has returned. His efforts in boosting tourism through the National Games were also praised.
Electoral Success Strengthens BJP in Uttarakhand
Dhami’s governance has been instrumental in the BJP’s strong performance in Uttarakhand. Under his leadership, the party achieved remarkable success in Lok Sabha and local body elections. With an eye on the 2027 Assembly elections, CM Dhami is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the state's future.
Significance of The Indian Express Power List
Every year, The Indian Express ranks the 100 most powerful personalities in India based on their influence across politics, business, sports, cinema, and other fields.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi topped the 2024 list, followed by Home Minister Amit Shah and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat. Other notable figures include industrialists Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, cricketers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, and Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.
Dhami Among the Most Influential Young Leaders
At 49 years old, Pushkar Singh Dhami is one of the youngest political leaders in the power rankings. With very few politicians under 50 years of age making it to the list, his inclusion at 32nd place highlights his rising stature in national politics.
