Vivek Agnihotri says sorry to Delhi High Court but judges not happy, ask him to appear in person

Film-maker Vivek Agnihotri tendered an apology to the Delhi High Court on 6 December 2022.

Agnihotri had criticised Justice S Muralidhar for granting bail to activist Gautam Navlakha in the Bhima Koregaon case.

Agnihotri apologised to the court via an affidavit, but the judges asked the film-maker to appear in person. The court asked, "Does he have any difficulty if he has to express remorse in person? The remorse cannot always be expressed by way of an affidavit."

Agnihotri's lawyer said he will be present in court for the next hearing in March 2023.

The issue of deletion of the contentious tweets was also discussed in court.

While Agnihotri's lawyer claimed that 'The Kashmir Files' director had deleted the tweets himself, the amicus curiae said that Twitter had submitted in court that the tweets were removed by the company.

However, the court did not delve deeper into the matter.
