Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dhami congratulated the Transport Department employees and the residents of the area for the new office building and driving test track. He emphasized that the office building, built at a cost of around Rs 4.5 crore, would speed up Transport Department services while providing transparent and technically advanced services to the public.&nbsp;
He also praised the development of the Automated Driving Test Track, which was constructed at an investment of over Rs 7 crore across Kashipur, Haridwar, and Rishikesh. This facility, Dhami noted, would bring transparency to the driving license process and contribute to improved road safety.
In addition to the inaugurations, the Chief Minister flagged off water coolers and free ambulances for the wards of Kashipur through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. He expressed his appreciation for the individuals who brought these services to fruition, stating, &ldquo;I congratulate all the concerned gentlemen who brought these two services to the ground.&rdquo;
Further highlighting the ongoing development efforts, Chief Minister Dhami noted that major infrastructure projects, including drinking water, sewage systems, road improvements, and a sewage treatment plant in Kashipur, are progressing swiftly with an allocation of about Rs 1,950 crore.&nbsp;
He also mentioned two significant projects aimed at boosting local employment and strengthening the area&rsquo;s economy: the Industrial Hub Project, worth Rs 1,100 crore, and the Aroma Park Project, which is being developed at an investment of Rs 100 crore.

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing drive against corruption under the zero tolerance policy adopted by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab government, on Wednesday, has arrested Harpreet Singh, Revenue Patwari, posted at revenue halqua Sultanwind, Amritsar red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 50000.
An official spokesperson of the state VB informed that the arrest has been made following a complaint lodged by a complainant of Sultanwind, in Amritsar.
He further added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the aforementioned Patwari had demanded a bribe of Rs 2,50,000 for making correction in the revenue record pertaining to his plot.
As per the complaint the Patwari asked the complainant that the bribe money would be shared with Tehsildar and Girdawar and he would take Rs 50000 out of this amount.
The spokesperson further added that after a preliminary verification of this complaint a VB team from Amritsar range laid a trap during which the said accused was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 50000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard a case has been registered against the accused under Prevention of Corruption Act at the VB police station at Amritsar range. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigations are underway, he said.

In a statement, Dhami highlighted that the award recognized the transparent and accountable administration of the state government and demonstrated how technology and innovation can enhance governance and public welfare.
&ldquo;Our goal is to make this model more powerful and implement it in other areas so that Uttarakhand becomes a leading state of digital, transparent, and accountable governance. This award inspires us to work harder,&rdquo; Dhami said.
UK-GAMS, an innovative initiative launched by the Uttarakhand government, has been honored with the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2024 under the "Innovation - State category." This marks the first time Uttarakhand has received a national-level award in innovation. The project was conceived and developed under the leadership of Chief Minister Dhami, according to the statement.
The initiative addresses the challenges of land encroachment, lack of transparency, and accountability through advanced technology. UK-GAMS is an AI-based geospatial monitoring system that digitizes and geo-fences government assets, monitoring them effectively using high-quality satellite data and an in-house AI model.&nbsp;
Previously, unorganized records, paper maps, and communication gaps between departments made it difficult to detect land misuse or encroachment in time. UK-GAMS has transformed this situation by integrating various departments into a dynamic digital platform.
So far, over 66,000 government assets across all 13 districts of Uttarakhand have been digitized and added to the UK-GAMS platform. Additionally, 188 land use changes have been identified, prompting the relevant departments to take appropriate action. This has enhanced transparency, halted unauthorized constructions, and accelerated administrative action across departments.
The award is also a testament to the dedication of the Uttarakhand Space Applications Centre (USAC) team of scientists, whose contributions have been key in implementing this project. Under the leadership of Nitika Khandelwal, Director of USAC, the project was successfully conceptualized, developed, and executed. Khandelwal was also presented with a certificate of appreciation by the Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) for her exemplary work.
The successful implementation of UK-GAMS also involved training more than 6,600 field officers and 1,000 departmental supervisors from over 60 state departments and 47 autonomous bodies. This ground-level implementation model has been integral to the system's success.
This national recognition not only brings pride to Uttarakhand but also serves as a model for other states and sectors to follow, reinforcing the role of AI and satellite technology in securing public assets, enhancing transparency, and fostering active governance. UK-GAMS has the potential to be a benchmark for digital governance across India.

Speaking to journalists after meeting the kin of of 31-year-old Shubham Dwivedi, a Kanpur resident killed in the Pahalgam terror attack, he said targeting of innocent individuals based on their religious identity, especially in front of their families, is intolerable.
"To ask people their religion before killing them, turning women widows is unacceptable in India," he said.
Highlighting the Centre's response to the attack, including the decisions taken at the CCS meeting under PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Kashmir, he said, "The decisions taken at CCS meet would prove to be the last nail in the coffin for terrorism".
"In this hour of grief, the country must believe in PM Modi&rsquo;s leadership," Adityanath reiterated.
The chief minister pledged a "zero tolerance" approach to terrorism.
"This is not a government which withdraws cases against terrorists or sees its vote bank in such situations. We are committed to crush the deadly, poisonous fangs of terrorists. Terrorists and those who patronised them would now have to face the repercussions of the zero tolerance approach and now all will watch what follows next," he said.
The chief minister asserted that the "double engine" government would deliver a "befitting response" to the terrorists.
Adityanath also noted that Shubham had been married only two months and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
Terrorists opened fire in a meadow near the tourist hub of Pahalgam in south Kashmir on Tuesday afternoon, killing 26 people, mostly tourists. It is the worst attack in Kashmir since the Pulwama strike in 2019 when 40 CRPF personnel were killed.&nbsp;

Shubham, who had married Ashanya just two months earlier on February 12, was among the 26 victims, mostly tourists, who were killed in the horrific terrorist attack on Tuesday at Baisaran meadow, near Pahalgam in Anantnag district. This attack is one of the most gruesome civilian-targeted acts of violence in Kashmir in recent years.
Shubham's body was brought to the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow from Srinagar around midnight on Wednesday. A green corridor was swiftly established to transport his remains in an ambulance to his native village, Hathipur, in Kanpur district.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak also paid his respects to Shubham at the Lucknow airport, further expressing his condolences.
The newlywed, who was the only son in his family, had gone on a week-long trip to Kashmir with his wife Ashanya, along with their parents, in-laws, sister, brother-in-law, and other relatives. Tragedy struck when terrorists shot him at point-blank range in front of his wife.
Ashanya, speaking to the media, described the chilling events, explaining how the terrorists specifically targeted Hindus. "The terrorists asked people if they were Muslims, and if so, to recite &lsquo;kalma&rsquo; (Islamic declaration of faith). Before I could sense what exactly was happening, they shot Shubham in front of me as soon as he said he was a Hindu," she recalled.
The last rites ceremony in Kanpur was attended by thousands of mourners, including CM Yogi, the two Cabinet ministers, state Congress president Ajay Rai, and many senior officials, all of whom paid their respects to Shubham and his family during this sorrowful moment.

He also assured that all necessary arrangements were being made by the state to support the grieving family. &ldquo;The concerned officials of the state have been directed to send the mortal remains to Kanpur with full respect. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to give a place to the departed soul at his feet and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense sorrow,&rdquo; he added.
The Chief Minister personally spoke with Shubham&rsquo;s father, Sanjay Dwivedi, over the phone and conveyed the state's full support during this difficult time. He also directed officials to ensure Shubham&rsquo;s mortal remains are brought back to Kanpur with dignity.
Shubham Dwivedi had recently tied the knot on February 12, 2025, and was visiting Kashmir with his wife for a short vacation. What was meant to be a joyful trip turned into a devastating tragedy when he became one of the victims of the attack.
Speaking to ANI, Shubham&rsquo;s cousin, Saurabh Dwivedi, shared heartbreaking details of the incident. &ldquo;Shubham Bhaiya got married on February 12 this year. He was in Pahalgam with his wife. My sister-in-law called my uncle and told him that Shubham was shot in the head. It is also reported that the firing began after the individuals were asked for their names... We have received information that the body will be released after 2-3 days after completing all the procedures&hellip;&rdquo; he said.
The incident has sparked widespread grief and outrage, highlighting once again the toll of senseless violence on innocent lives.

The gunfight took place at a forest in Karegutta hills in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district along the inter-state border in the morning when a joint team of security forces was out on an anti-Naxal operation, a senior police official said.
So far, bodies of three Naxalites have been recovered from the encounter site, and several other Maoists are also suspected to have been killed in the fierce gun battle, he said.
The operation, one of biggest counter-insurgency actions launched in Bastar region, involved around 10,000 security personnel belonging to different units, including the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighters, Special Task Force (STF), all units of the state police, as well as the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and its elite Commando Battalions for Resolute Action (CoBRA), he said.
The Telangana police were also assisting in the operation, the official said.
The operation was launched on Monday based on inputs about the presence of senior cadres of battalion no. 1, the strongest military formation of Maoists, and Telangana state committee of Maoists, and it will last for several days, he said.
The area surrounded by the dense forests and series of hills is considered to be the base of Maoists' battalion no. 1, he added.

According to reports, all 10 cats belong to one man.&nbsp;

Bringing laurels to the state of Punjab, as many as 260 students from the state government schools have qualified in the prestigious JEE (Mains) exam, a testament to the quality education being imparted in the government schools, announced S. Harjot Singh Bains, the School Education Minister, Punjab.
Addressing a press conference here at Punjab Bhawan on Wednesday evening, S. Harjot Singh Bains said that the qualified students will now appear in the JEE (Advanced) exam.
Recognising their journey, the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government has thoughtfully arranged free coaching classes by organising summer camp in SAS Nagar to prepare them for this JEE (Advanced) exam.
Congratulating the students, their teachers, and parents for this remarkable feat, S. Harjot Singh Bains said that the success of these students is a testament to the hard work and dedication of not only the students themselves but also their teachers and parents. He emphasised that the Punjab government is committed to providing quality education to all students.
He further stated that the government is making concerted efforts to improve the infrastructure and resources available to government schools, so that they can continue to produce top-performing students.
The Education Minister also shared the heart-touching story of JEE (Mains) qualifier, Arshdeep Singh, a student from Shaheed Flight Lt. Mohit Kumar Garg School of Eminence, Samana, who has turned hardship into hope. Hailing from Patiala district, Arshdeep scored an impressive 97.79 percentile in JEE (Mains).
After losing his father, Sukhwinder Singh, life changed drastically. His mother, Sunita Rani, is working tirelessly in a local private school to make ends meet on an income of less than one lakh annually. Despite financial struggles, she instilled in Arshdeep the value of education, hard work, and never giving up.
The support he received through the School of Eminence and the &ldquo;PACE&rdquo;Program made a world of difference. These initiatives didn&rsquo;t just provide academic guidance&mdash;they gave him the confidence to dream bigger.
Now, he is looking forward to building a better future for his family, and to someday give back to the society that shaped him, he added.

Taking a significant step towards ensuring healthcare facilities for frontline workers, Punjab&rsquo;s Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development, Dr. Baljit Kaur, today informed that under a special drive launched by the department, 56.26% of Anganwadi Workers and 46.15% of Anganwadi Helpers in the state have been issued Ayushman Health Cards.
Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that this long-pending demand has been a priority for the department, and significant progress has been made in this direction. She informed that the eKYC process for 99% of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers has already been completed, and the remaining cards will also be issued soon.
Congratulating the beneficiaries, the Cabinet Minister mentioned that under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, each card holder will be entitled to free medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh annually at empanelled hospitals across the country.
Reiterating the commitment of the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, towards public welfare, Dr. Baljit Kaur affirmed that the state government is continuously working towards the well-being of every section of society and striving to build a prosperous and vibrant Punjab.

Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO on Wednesday strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, terming it as "barbaric and cowardly." He stated that terrorists, gangsters, and other anti-social elements are working hand-in-glove to disrupt peace and harmony in the region.&nbsp;
The Cabinet Minister said that this was the first such attack targeting tourists. He assured that the Punjab Government is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of tourists from Punjab who are currently stranded and making arrangements for their safe return.&nbsp;
Asserting that terrorism has no religion, the Cabinet Minister said that no faith permits such brutal attacks on innocent people. He underlined the proactive role of Punjab Police, which is acting as the second line of defence in border areas, and urged the people of the state to remain calm and vigilant in all situations.
Mr. Harbhajan Singh ETO &nbsp;called upon the Union Government to take stringent action against those responsible. He reiterated the Punjab Government&rsquo;s commitment to maintaining peace and security while standing firmly against any forces threatening national integrity.

Ahead of Char Dham Yatra 2025, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami leads proactive efforts to ensure the health, safety, and convenience of pilgrims.&nbsp;

The Uttarakhand government is fully committed and proactive regarding the Char Dham Yatra 2025 that commences on April 30. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the safety, health, and convenience of pilgrims are being prioritized at the highest level.&nbsp;
In this regard, the Health Department has initiated extensive preparatory measures at the grassroots level. The dedicated efforts of the government and the department will play a pivotal role in ensuring that this year's Char Dham Yatra is not only secure but also seamless and well-organized.&nbsp;
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Health Minister Dr. Dhansingh Rawat, Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar is actively working to enhance healthcare services along the Char Dham Yatra route.&nbsp;
Extensive arrangements are being made at the ground level, while a modern, well-organized, and accessible healthcare infrastructure is being established along the entire route in collaboration with experts.&nbsp;
The government's primary goal is to ensure that every pilgrim completes their spiritual journey in a secure and healthy way, with reliable and easily accessible health services at each stage.
In addition to ensuring that all permanent and temporary medical units are fully stocked with essential medicines, equipment, and trained personnel, a detailed health advisory will be available in 13 languages via QR codes at hotels, restaurants, and parking areas. Health awareness will also be raised through strategically placed hoardings in areas prone to congestion and at major stops.
At Kedarnath, a 17-bed facility is nearing completion with two floors to be operational before the Yatra begins. Besides the regular services, it will also have specialist orthopaedic services.
At Phata, near Kedarnath, 12 medical units have been set up along the way. Located 32 kilometres from Kedarnath, it has an open area for landing choppers during the Yatra. There will be screening teams at 12 designated areas around the helipads and parking areas.
At Chamoli, which is en route to Badrinath, 20 medical units will become operational in addition to four major screening points at Gochhar Barrier, Pandukeshwar Bazaar, Trauma Center Karnapraya, and Panduwakhal (Gairsain). Duty schedules for medical staff have already been confirmed.
For the Gangotri-Yamunotri route, all medical units are in place and staff deployment will start on April 28. Ambulances will be positioned all along the route. Check-ups will be mandatory for pilgrims over 50 years.
As regards deployment of medical personnel, specialist doctors from other districts will be deployed on 15-day rotations. There will be a Central government appointee for Badrinath/Joshimath. Support infrastructure includes 121 staff nurses, 26 pharmacists, 309 oxygen beds, six ICU beds, 13 departmental ambulances, 17 1 ambulances, one blood bank and two blood storage units.
In addition to three existing medical relief posts (MRPs), five new ones are being set up in Gochhar, Nangsu, Mandal, Katora and Hanumanchatti.
In addition, food safety measures have also been put in place. There will be regular quality checks of food items along the Yatra route. A mobile food safety van will be deployed for continuous inspection and on-spot testing.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep condolences for those who lost their lives in the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.&nbsp;
He strongly condemned the act and reaffirmed that this was a new India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where the Indian Army would take decisive action to eliminate the terrorists responsible.&nbsp;
Speaking at the 'Rajkiya Kranti Diwas' fair in Pithsain, CM Dhami stated, "The terrorist attack in Pahalgam cannot be condemned enough. Innocent tourists were killed after asking their religion. People of the country are sad and annoyed. I pay tribute to those who lost their lives in this incident and also want to tell those terrorists that this is not the India where you can easily escape after carrying out such an incident. This is Prime Minister Modi's India. Our army will definitely kill those terrorists."
CM Dhami also mentioned that administrative officials had been in contact with Uttarakhand tourists who had traveled to Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring that the stranded individuals would return safely on the same day. As part of his visit, CM Dhami inaugurated the newly constructed Automated Test Track in Kashipur on Wednesday.
During a solemn tribute to the victims, the people of Pauri, along with CM Dhami, observed two minutes of silence to honor the lives lost in the Pahalgam attack.&nbsp;
Earlier, while speaking to ANI, CM Dhami had expressed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved families, calling the attack not only a massacre of innocent tourists but also an assault on the very soul of the nation. "Their aim is to disrupt the peace in Jammu and Kashmir, but they will never succeed," he added.
The Chief Minister condemned the targeted killings of Hindu tourists, calling the act a reflection of a "jihadist mindset." He stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the Indian Army would deliver a strong and targeted response. "This is a tragic day. The way Hindu tourists were deliberately targeted in Pahalgam exposes the radical motives behind the attack. I pay my respects to the victims and pray for their souls. I am confident that every single one of the terrorists responsible will be brought to justice," he emphasized.
In addition, CM Dhami confirmed that all state officials were instructed to maintain constant contact with the affected families and ensure the safe return and support of all Uttarakhand residents currently in the region. Following the attack, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the security situation at the Pahalgam site, conducting an aerial inspection after arriving by helicopter. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) also visited the site to assist the Jammu and Kashmir Police with the investigation into one of the most significant terror attacks in the region since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
