A bus carrying devotees collided with two trucks on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan's Dausa district, injuring 45 passengers amidst dense fog.

The front part of the bus was badly damaged in the accident, police said.

Around 45 passengers were injured when a private bus rammed into two trucks, which had already collided with each other on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan's Dausa district on Thursday, police said.
Nangal-Rajawatan DSP Charul Gupta said that a bus of devotees was going from Ujjain to Delhi when the accident occurred due to dense fog.
The DSP said around 45 passengers in the bus were injured and more than 20 were admitted to Dausa District Hospital.
Four were referred to Jaipur and some injured left for Noida and Delhi for treatment, she added.
Gupta said the accident took place near Lahdi Ka Bas on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Dausa district.

Additional doctors and staff were deployed on the instructions of District Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr Deepak Sharma following information that a large number of people were injured.

Delhi Police has deported a Bangladeshi mother-son duo, of which the woman was staying in southwest Delhi since 2005, officials said on Tuesday.
The deported persons have been identified as Nazma Khan and her son Naim Khan (22), police said.
"The duo entered India illegally via the West Bengal border. While Nazma came around 20 years back, Naim arrived in 2020," Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest), Surendra Choudhary, said.
The mother-son duo was staying in Katwaria Sarai, where Nazma worked as a domestic help, he said.
"During a routine patrol on December 29, police intercepted Naim near the Shastri Market following a tip-off. Naim's interrogation led to Nazma's detention the following day. Both were handed over to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) from where they were deported to Bangladesh," the DCP said.
During questioning, Naim claimed that financial hardships forced his mother to migrate to India two decades ago, while he followed her in 2020.
In a related case, a Bangladeshi national named Mohammad Akhtar Sheikh has been arrested from Sarojini Nagar for staying in the country illegally, officials said.
"Sheikh, who was held in a drug-related case on November 28, was released on bail. However, subsequent address verification revealed his status as an illegal immigrant. Originally from Kochaghata in Bangladesh, Sheikh entered India via West Bengal in 2004," the DCP said.
Sheikh, who married an Indian national in 2012, worked at a construction site in Delhi, he said.
On December 30, he was found near the Sarojini Nagar railway station without any valid documents, following which a fresh case under the Foreigners Act has been registered against him, the officer said.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday apologised for the ethnic conflict in the state which claimed over 250 lives and rendered thousands homeless, and appealed to all communities to forget and forgive past mistakes and live together in a peaceful and prosperous state.
Addressing reporters in Imphal, Singh said that there has been relative peace in the state in the last three-four months, which gives him hope that normalcy will be restored in the new year.

Singh said firing incidents have declined in the state over the last 20 months since the ethnic conflict began in May 2023.
"From May to October, 2023, 408 firing incidents were reported. From November 2023 to April 2024, there were 345 firing incidents, whereas from May this year till now, 112 firing incidents were reported," he said.
He said that of all the looted weapons, 3,112 have been recovered and 2,511 explosives have been seized during the period.
The chief minister further said that 625 people have been arrested and 12,047 FIRs registered so far.
More than 250 people have been killed and thousands rendered homeless in ethnic violence between Imphal Valley-based Meiteis and adjoining hills-based Kuki-Zo groups since May last year.

To manage the expected traffic, around 2,500 personnel from the Delhi Traffic Police will be deployed. Additionally, 250 teams will be set up to monitor and prevent drunken driving on New Year&rsquo;s Eve. 
Traffic Restrictions in Connaught Place
As part of the traffic control plan, 11 CAPF companies, 40 motorcycle patrol teams, and an equal number of foot patrol teams will be in action. From 8 pm on December 31 until after midnight, traffic control measures will be implemented around Connaught Place.

The BJP on Tuesday accused Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal of using children for political gains, charging him with practising "petty, cheap and dirty" politics.
Addressing a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said Delhi's ruling party has not taken down a post, which shows some children raising pro-Kejriwal slogans, despite the National Human Rights Commission raising serious concerns on the matter.
Such a depiction of children is a violation of the Juvenile Act and the Election Commission guidelines, he said.
"Kejriwal and Chief Minister Atishi are not sparing even children. They are violating the dignity of children. Is it because Kejriwal knows that he is losing the elections in Delhi," Bhatia asked.
He asked why Kejriwal was "playing with young and impressionable minds for his petty, cheap and dirty politics".
The BJP, he claimed, will ensure that the "destroyer of children and a hater of children" is thrown out of power. He accused the AAP government of converting school toilets into classrooms for children and deliberately failing students in Class 9 and Class 11 to ensure higher pass percentages in Class 10 and Class 12.
He added that people will celebrate "Happiness Utsav" -- a Delhi government initiative to commemorate the 'Happiness Curriculum' in its schools -- by teaching the AAP a lesson in the upcoming polls.

"We are aware of the sentencing of Ms. Nimisha Priya in Yemen. We understand that the family of Priya is exploring relevant options," said Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
"The government is extending all possible help in the matter," he added.
Jaiswal was replying to a media query. 
Background of the Case
Nimisha Priya, a trained nurse from Palakkad, was found guilty of killing Talal Abdo Mahdi, a Yemeni national, in 2017. A Yemeni court sentenced her to death a year later, and her family has been tirelessly working to have the verdict overturned. Priya&rsquo;s family challenged the trial court&rsquo;s decision in the Yemeni Supreme Court, but their appeal was rejected in 2023. Following this, the Yemeni President also dismissed her appeal. Priya&rsquo;s only hope for release lies in obtaining forgiveness from the victim&rsquo;s family and tribal leaders.
Her mother, Prema Kumari, has been negotiating with the victim&rsquo;s family for forgiveness through the payment of "blood money." However, talks hit an impasse in September after the lawyer appointed by the Indian Embassy, Abdullah Ameer, demanded a pre-negotiation fee of $20,000 (approximately Rs 16.6 lakh). Although the MEA had already provided $19,871 to Ameer in July, he insisted on a total fee of $40,000. Despite the crowdfunding efforts by the Save Nimisha Priya International Action Council to raise the first installment of this amount, there were transparency concerns over how the funds were being used.
 The Circumstances Leading to the Death Sentence
Nimisha Priya moved to Yemen in 2010 and worked as a nurse in private hospitals. In 2014, due to financial constraints, her husband and daughter returned to India. That same year, Yemen plunged into a civil war, preventing their return. In 2015, Priya sought the help of Talal Mahdi to set up a clinic in Sana'a, Yemen, as the country's laws allowed only Yemeni nationals to own clinics. During this time, Mahdi accompanied Priya to Kerala, where he allegedly stole her wedding photograph and later manipulated it to falsely claim he was married to her.
Upon their return to Yemen, Priya opened her clinic, but Mahdi took control of its revenue and manipulated ownership documents. When Priya confronted him about his embezzlement, Mahdi became hostile. He also falsely claimed Priya as his wife, even altering photographs to support this claim. Over time, Mahdi began to demand money from Priya's earnings and seized her passport, subjecting her to physical and emotional abuse.
Despite Priya seeking help from the police in Sana&rsquo;a, her situation worsened. Rather than taking action against Mahdi, the police arrested Priya and held her in jail for six days. In July 2017, Priya approached the warden of a nearby jail where Mahdi had been incarcerated. The warden suggested she try sedating Mahdi to retrieve her passport. Priya attempted this, using a stronger sedative, but Mahdi died from an overdose shortly afterward. 
The Ongoing Efforts for Justice
The government of India, alongside Priya&rsquo;s family, is continuing its efforts to resolve the case, with legal avenues being explored to ensure her release.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Reddy expressed his gratitude to Nadella for Microsoft&rsquo;s consistent investments and its expanding business operations in Hyderabad and Telangana. The Chief Minister, along with the state&rsquo;s IT Minister, discussed the state&rsquo;s focus on emerging technologies like AI, Gen AI, and cloud computing, and sought Microsoft&rsquo;s support in building a robust ecosystem. The goal is to establish Hyderabad as a global leader in the technology sector.
Reddy also outlined plans for infrastructure development in the state, which include the Regional Ring Road, radial roads, the Future City initiative, and the creation of new manufacturing clusters. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the Border Security Force (BSF) of facilitating the entry of Bangladeshi infiltrators into India, claiming that the force is working to destabilize the state. She also hinted that the actions of the BSF are aligned with a larger plan orchestrated by the central government.
During an administrative review meeting at the state secretariat, Banerjee stated, "We have received reports that the BSF is allowing infiltrators to cross into India through border regions such as Islampur, Sitai, and Chopra. The force is also torturing people and creating instability in the state."
The Chief Minister continued, "There seems to be a larger plan behind this, driven by the central government. However, we want peace on both sides of the border, and we maintain a cordial relationship with Bangladesh."
Banerjee further directed the state's Director General of Police, Rajeev Kumar, to investigate the locations where these infiltrators are staying after crossing into West Bengal. She announced her intention to send a formal letter to the central government expressing her concerns.
In her remarks, Banerjee also accused the BSF of attempting to frame the state government for the situation, saying, "The BSF is trying to blame the Trinamool Congress government for this. I will instruct the DGP to trace the whereabouts of these infiltrators after they enter the state."

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday came up with a cryptic response to RJD president Lalu Prasad's offer to return to the INDIA bloc.
"Kya bol rahe hain (What are you saying)" was all the JD(U) boss said in reply to queries from journalists about Prasad's fresh offer.
Kumar had aligned twice with the RJD, a constituent of the INDIA bloc, in the last one decade.
Prasad's son and heir apparent Tejashwi Yadav, however, sought to downplay the remarks made by his father, in an interview to a local news channel, claiming that the RJD supremo had merely tried to satisfy the curiosity of the prying media.
Prasad had said, "Our doors are open (for Nitish). He should also unbolt his gates. This would facilitate movement of people from both sides".
The remark, coming in the backdrop of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's stance on projecting the JD(U) supremo as NDA's face in the assembly polls due in less than a year, triggered intense speculations in a section of the media here.
Kumar was approached with queries by journalists at Raj Bhavan, where he attended the swearing-in ceremony of Arif Mohammad Khan as the new governor.
Flanked by Khan and Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary (BJP on either side, Kumar folded his hands and smiled when his comments were sought on the offer from Prasad. Pressed further, he asked, "What are you saying".
When a pointed query was made, as to whether the state government would be able to complete its term, Khan intervened and said, "This is not the occasion for a question of this type. Today is a happy day. Let us only talk about good things".
Later, the posse of journalists approached Yadav, a former Deputy CM and the current leader of the opposition, who had also come to attend the function.
The young leader, who had on Wednesday declared that the new year will see "departure" of the NDA government headed by Nitish Kumar, said: "I have already made my stand clear".
When probed further, with reference to the utterances of his father, Yadav said, "What would he do if people like you keep coming to him with the same question? Whatever he said must have been aimed at putting an end to curiosity of you journalists."
Meanwhile, when questions about Prasad were posed to Union minister and former JD(U) president Rajiv Ranjan Singh "Lalan", he snapped.
"The NDA is strong. JD(U) and BJP are united. It is a free society and anybody can say whatever he pleases. It is for Lalu ji to say more on his own utterances", he said.
Lalan was perceived to have grown very close to the RJD supremo when Nitish Kumar was out of NDA. It was rumoured to have been the reason why the de facto JD(U) chief chose to take over as the president of the party.

Puneet's family members and friends have alleged that his social media account has been hacked. The allegation is being verified, the police said.

A 40-year-old bakery owner allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his residence in Model Town area of northwest Delhi, an official said on Wednesday.
The family members of the deceased, identified as Puneet Khurana, have alleged harassment by his wife and in-laws, police said in a statement. Investigators said the allegations are yet to be verified.
There was no immediate reaction from the Puneet's wife and in-laws.
"Khurana's father Trilok Nath has produced his (Puneet's) mobile phone and other related articles... (which) were taken in police possession. The body will be handed over to the family members after post-mortem," Northwest Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Bhisham Singh said.
The DCP further stated said the incident was reported around 4.18 pm on Tuesday in Kalyan Vihar of Model Town.
"Soon after receiving information, a team was immediately dispatched to the location. They found Puneet unresponsive on his bed with a ligature mark around his neck, indicating death by hanging," the officer said, adding that further investigation is underway.
The DCP said the team also learned that the victim had recorded a video before his death. The victim's mobile phone has been taken under possession and ACP Rohit Gupta from Model Town is leading the investigation. The teams are verifying all the allegations made by the victim's family members.
Puneet's mobile phone has been sent for forensic examination, police said.
"We have received a complaint from the victim's father and will ask the family members from both sides to appear before the team. The team has already questioned the woman's family which has also made counter-allegations. It was revealed that the couple had spoken just a few hours before the suicide," the DCP added.
Puneet's body was transported to BJRM Hospital and preserved for a post-mortem examination. The police said a board of doctors would conduct the procedure if required.
While talking to reporters, Puneet's father levelled allegations against the deceased's wife and in-laws. He said they used to threaten him almost every day over financial and property issues.
Puneet's sister alleged that her brother committed suicide because of his wife and her parents who mentally pressurised him, harassed and provoked him to commit suicide.
"We request that justice must be done with our family and culprits must be sent behind bars," she added.
She further alleged that she got to know about her brother's suicide around 3 pm on Tuesday.
"He got married in December 2016 and had been staying separately from his wife for the last two years," she said.
A 15-minute purported audio clip of conversation between the couple went viral. In the purported audio, the couple engaged in a heated dispute over money and their co-owned bakery named 'For God's Cake'.
In the conversation, a woman can be heard abusing a man over the issue.
The clip also has references to the cafe, which had been closed some time ago. During the argument, the woman can be heard questioning why the man had called her at 3 am.
"Why are you calling me at 3 am? You have disgraced me and my family on multiple occasions. We did so much for you," she said.
In response, the man dismisses her grievances, saying, "All of this doesn't matter anymore. Just tell me what you want."
The argument continued as the man and the woman debated the sharing of social media account passwords. The woman also used abusive language.
Puneet's family members and friends have alleged that his social media account has been hacked. The allegation is being verified, the police said.
Some of his friends said Puneet was under acute pressure as his wife and in-laws were threatening him and his family members.
"Yesterday he called us and asked us to sit somewhere. He was very stressed as he was continuously getting threats from his in-laws. He was also under stress as they were threatening his parents too. This is the only reason he took such an extreme step," his friends told the reporters.
Sources said the police may call Puneet's wife and her family members for questioning.

The chief minister said the start of the new government has been "decent" and that they "did not find much difficulty" in it.
"We are bound by our election promises. We have started the process of implementing some of the promises and for other promises, we need change in the system. I hope J-K being a UT is a temporary phase," Abdullah said.
"We the people are now expecting that the promises made with us will be fulfilled. The biggest promise is the restoration of the statehood. The Supreme Court in its judgement had also stated that the statehood should be restored as soon as possible. One year has passed since and we think one year should be enough," he added.
Abdullah said the sentiments of the people should be respected their aspirations should be fulfilled.
Addressing reporters, the chief minister termed it an interaction, and not a press conference.
"We are not making any big announcements as was being speculated on social media. We only wanted to have an interaction. We will try to answer your questions," he said.
"I would like to have this kind of interaction without any agenda at least twice a year," he added.

The Met office said on Thursday that the wind speed is likely to increase to 12 to 14 kilometres per hour during the afternoon and gradually decline to less than 8 kilometres per hour by the evening.
Smog and shallow fog is expected during the evening and the night.
