Will Sameer Wankhede stay on Aryan Khan drug case? Here's what NCB has said

NCB officer Sameer Wankhede, who was questioned by his seniors on Wednesday over bribery allegations, will continue to head the probe into the Aryan Khan drug case.

Senior NCB officer Gyaneshwar Singh was quoted as saying by news agency ANI that Wankhede will stay in charge of the cruise ship raids case unless substantial information is found against him.

An NCB witness in the case earlier this week made the bribery charge against Wankhede claiming that 25 crore were demanded to release Aryan Khan after the raid. He had further alleged that Sameer Wankhede was to get 8 crore from the bribe money, which was settled at 18 crore. Sameer Wankhede has denied all the allegations.

The Narcotics Control Bureau had asked its vigilance section to investigate the issue. Wankhede on Wankhede on Wednesday recorded his statement for more than four hours before a team headed by NCB Deputy Director General (northern region) Gyaneshwar Singh.

On Wednesday morning, a five-member vigilance probe team of the NCB landed in Mumbai and started its probe. They collected some documents and recordings from the NCB office at Ballard Estate in south Mumbai.

DDG Singh is heading the departmental vigilance probe into allegations of extortion.

"All the material witnesses in the probe will be called to record their statements, I will not take the name of any individual," Singh added.

Wankhede, who is leading the probe in the cruise drugs case, visited the NCB's headquarters in New Delhi on Tuesday and spent over two hours.
