Will show that cars can run on green hydrogen, have bought one: Nitin Gadkari

Union minister Nitin Gadkari has said he has bought a car on a pilot basis that will run on green hydrogen.

The transport minister on Thursday said he will drive that car in Delhi so that people believe it's possible to get hydrogen from water.

Gadkari has been pitching green hydrogen as a potential transport fuel. "I have a plan to run buses, trucks and cars on green hydrogen that would be produced using sewage water and solid waste in cities," the minister said.

The minister, in an attempt to make people believe that vehicles can run on hydrogen extracted from water, said: "I've bought a car that would run on green hydrogen produced in an oil research institute in Faridabad. I will drive it in Delhi to make people believe."
