Bhai Dooj 2021: Also known as Yama Dwitiya, Bhai Phota and Bhau Beej, Bhai Dooj is an auspicious festival celebrated all over India. The festival is symbolic of brother-sister love and affection.

The word Bhai Dooj is derived from the words, 'Bhai' which means brother, while 'Dooj' refers to the second day after the new moon. This special day falls on the second day of the Shukla Paksha in the Hindu month of Kartik. This year it shall be celebrated on 6th November.

On this day sisters pray to God for their beloved brother's well-being and prosperity. The sisters mark the occasion by applying a tilak on their brothers' foreheads, followed by an aarti with a decorated thali comprising sweets and coconut.
