As the arrival of sweater weather looms, the encroaching winter blues cast a shadow over our days, particularly with the arrival of darker, dreary mornings, leaving us feeling more fatigued than usual.

Fortunately, there are effective strategies to combat this autumnal melancholy. These include tactics like placing the alarm clock away from the bed, starting the day with a cold shower, and exposing oneself to natural light immediately upon waking.

Research from the past has established that a seven-hour sleep duration is optimal for achieving restorative rest each night. A study even suggests that a good night’s sleep can slow down the aging process. Certain habits, such as excessive screen time before bedtime, can disrupt sleep quality.

Moreover, dietary choices play a significant role in promoting sound slumber. Experts caution against consuming junk food, ice cream, chips, and alcohol before bedtime. On the other hand, incorporating snacks like nuts, bananas, cherries, oats, salmon, eggs, and kiwis into one's diet may facilitate better sleep.

Nutritionist Lisa Marley emphasized the importance of a well-balanced diet, rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, proteins, and healthy fats, for achieving quality sleep. She also stressed the significance of sufficient vitamin D intake and proper hydration, as adequate hydration can combat fatigue. Additionally, Marley recommended dried apricots and bananas for their potential sleep-enhancing benefits.
