In the Barsana region of Uttar Pradesh, where Holi is believed to have originated, Lathmar Holi is popular. As the name suggests, along with colours, people use lathis and women can be seen chasing men away with these lathis! Fret not, men come prepared for the crazy feat too!

The sky is transformed into a stunning mirage of flowers in Braj near Mathura, where 'phoolon ki holi' is played. Rose, lotus and marigold flower petals are showered on one another.

Holi comes with a huge doze of sweetness in several parts of North India where laddoo Holi is played. It involves smearing colour on one another and tossing laddoos around. These sweets are then pocketed as they're considered to be blessings from the lord.

In Bihar, the festival of Holi is called Phaguwa and it involved lighting a pyre of fire before the celebrations begin. After that, the festival continues with tonnes of colour, folk songs and local delicacies.

The vibrant colours of Holi celebrate the arrival of Spring, as everyone unites to welcome the season of joy and hope.
