March is here and so is the excitement for the festival of colours, Holi. This year Holi will be celebrated on March 25 across the country. Even though Holi brings with it joy, fun and lots of colours, this festival also brings chances of skin and hair damage. But, making organic colors for Holi can be a fun and environmentally friendly way to celebrate the festival. Here are a few methods to create your own organic colors.

How to create natural colours for Holi

Turmeric Yellow: Turmeric is a common spice that can be used to create a vibrant yellow color. Simply mix turmeric powder with flour or cornstarch to create a fine powder that can be easily applied. This color is not only natural but also beneficial for the skin.

Beetroot Red: Beetroot is known for its deep red color and can be used to create a natural red dye. Grate or blend fresh beetroot and strain the juice. Mix the juice with a little water and apply it directly or use it as a base for other colors.

Spinach Green: Spinach can be used to create a lovely green color. Blend fresh spinach leaves with a little water and strain the juice. You can also boil spinach leaves in water to extract the color. Dilute the spinach juice as needed and use it for coloring.

Henna Brown: Henna powder, commonly used for temporary tattoos, can also be used to create a natural brown color. Mix henna powder with water to create a paste and allow it to sit for a few hours. Apply the paste directly to the skin for a beautiful brown tint.
