Post-Holi skincare: From moisturising to avoiding make up, here's how to take care of your skin

It is the day to have fun with friends and family whilst playing with colours and enjoying some delectable dishes. While playing with colours is fun, the after-effects of it can harm you. Holi colours may contain harmful and harsh chemicals that may cause skin irritation and allergies or lead to temporary staining of the skin. Here are some skincare tips to follow to ensure you have a skin-friendly Holi.

Post-Holi skincare tips

Before you start with any cleansing routine, it's a good idea to remove as much colour as possible.

Do an oil massage

Apply a generous amount of coconut oil, almond oil, or any other gentle oil all over your body, especially in areas where the color has settled. Massage gently for a few minutes to help loosen the color particles.

Cleanse well

Use a mild, pH-balanced cleanser to wash off the oil and remaining color from your skin. Gently massage the cleanser onto your face and body. Make sure to never play with stubborn colours.

Hydrate well

After cleansing, pat your skin dry with a soft towel and apply a hydrating moisturizer to lock in moisture. Look for products containing ingredients like hyaluronic acid or glycerin to replenish your skin's hydration levels.

Apply a Face Mask

If your skin feels dry apply a soothing face mask. Opt for masks containing ingredients like aloe vera, cucumber, or oatmeal to calm and nourish your skin.

Make sure to never scrub your face harshly to remove colours. Before playing with colours make sure to apply moisturiser and sunscreen.
