Social media is abuzz with videos of eggs exploding; know all about this bizarre trend

Most people know how to boil eggs and what not to do once they are done with it. But looks like many don't know that hard-boiled eggs are not supposed to be kept in the microwave and on top of that they should not be pointed at by any sharp object thereafter.

However, TikTokers have taken this experiment to a new level and this is what eggs-plosive trend is all about.

Several videos are doing rounds on the internet where people are seen microwaving hard-boiled eggs and later trying to slice them with a knife, making the eggs explode. Watch here.

Science behind eggs exploding when microwaved:

According to a report published by the Acoustical Society of America in 2017, it was stated that when you slice a hard-boiled egg that has been microwaved, it immediately explodes because the yolk of a reheated hard-boiled egg could reach temperatures as high as 212 degrees fahrenheit, which leads to a potential explosion.

So, it is advisable to not try this trend at home, as it can cause a mishap and possibly leave you with an awfully messy and smelly kitchen.
