Against all odds! the story behind Smriti Mandhana's hundred in the Pink Ball Test vs Australia

Since its announcement earlier this year in May, India's Pink Ball Test vs Australia was something all cricket fans were eagerly awaiting. But according to a report in ESPNCricinfo, BCCI failed to organise enough practice sessions for the Women's team which was going to play its first-ever Pink-Ball Test.

Mandhana herself could only get two net sessions with the pink ball ahead of the Test match but that couldn't stop the opener from raking up a classy hundred in Carrara. Despite the rain and thunderstorms, Mandhana managed to battle through the world-class bowling on offer by Australia and stayed unbeaten on 80 overnight.

On the 2nd Day, the left-hander carved her maiden Test hundred against perhaps the toughest opposition. She is in fact the fastest Indian to score a Test hundred, beating a long-standing 19-year-old record.
