Asian Games 2023: Bishnoi, Avesh take 3 wickets each as India beat Nepal by 23 runs to qualify for semis

The Indian men’s cricket team qualified for the semifinals of the Asian Games after being Nepal by 23 runs. While India were playing a second-string side, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, they were still too strong for Nepal in Hangzhou.

Riding on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s maiden T20I hundred and an explosive finish from Rinku Singh, India has posted 202 on the board batting first.

In reply, Nepal were always behind the eighth ball. While Dipendra Singh Airee and Sundeep Jora raised hopes of an improbable victory, Nepal could eventually only garner 179/9, falling short by 23 runs.

Leg spinner Ravi Bishno and pacer Avesh Khan were the pick of the bowlers, having picked up 3 wickets each during their 4-over spells.

India will now face either Bangladesh or Malaysia for a place in the final on October 6.
