Australian CWG Gold Medalist Rachael Haynes announces retirement from International Cricket

Australian batter and Vice Captain Rachael Haynes has announced her retirement from International Cricket on Thursday.

Haynes will be ending her professional career after the Women's Big Bash League where she will be playing for the Sydney Thunder.

The 35-year-old's last game for the national team was in the 2022 Commonwealth Games Gold medal match against India in Birmingham where the former came to bat at number six and scored 18 runs not out off 10 deliveries. The team won the match by nine runs.

So, its fair to say that she ended her role with the Australian team on a high note.

Haynes has had an illustrious career to look back at. Two ODI World Cups along with three T20 World Cups speak for themselves.

“Playing at this level isn’t possible without the support of many people. From clubs, states, coaches, family and friends, I’m so grateful to those who helped me along the way." Haynes said in her statement
