Ace all-rounder Hardik Pandya who has emerged as the strongest contender for Team India's captaincy duties in the T20I format is set to be promoted.

As per reports, during BCCI's first Apex Council meeting, it was discussed that the 29-year-old will be promoted to the A+ category in the board's list of centrally contracted players. He is currently in the C grade and only Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are currently in the A+ category.

The reports further suggest that Suryakumar Yadav who has displayed terrific form lately is also expected to get promoted. SKY is also in the C category currently.
