Big revelation by Ross Taylor, faced racism from New Zealand teammates and officials

In a major revelation, Ross Taylor has accused teammates and officials of making racial comments on him during his 16-year-long career in New Zealand.

Taylor, who is of Samoan descent, wrote in his new autobiography that cricket in New Zealand is a pretty white sport. He recalled that locker room banter sometimes was racist and hurtful but he was concerned that raising the issue might make the situation worse.

In his autobiography, Taylor revealed how his ethnicity was used to explain a point to him.

“A teammate used to tell me you're half a good guy Ross but which half is good? You don't know what I'm referring to.' I was pretty sure I did."

Reacting to Taylor's revelation, a New Zealand Cricket spokesperson told a country's daily that the national body deplores racism and is deeply disappointed Ross has been exposed to this type of behaviour.

Ross Taylor is the highest run-getter for New Zealand in Tests and ODIs. In 112 Tests, Taylor had accumulated 7684 runs, including 19 centuries while scored 8602 runs, including 21 hundreds, in 236 ODI games.
