Blockbuster decade: ICC announce 8 new tournaments to be played across 12 countries

In delighting news for the cricketing world, the ICC on Tuesday announced 8 new tournaments, which will be played over the next decade.

With the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics in mind, cricket's governing body awarded the hosting rights for the T20 World Cup 2024 to USA and West Indies. Champions Trophy officially returns as Pakistan will host the tournament in 2025 and by India in 2029. India and Sri Lanka will jointly host the T20 World Cup 2026, followed by the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Australia and New Zealand will jointly host the 2028 World T20, while England, Ireland and Scotland will jointly host it in 2030. The decade will be ended with the 2031 ODI World Cup in India and Bangladesh.

The ICC has been for a long time looking to give emerging countries the hosting rights for mega-events and these tournaments will be played across 12 different countries.
