Caribbean Premier League: Brandon King stars as Jamaica Tallawahs clinch 3rd CPL title

Jamaica Tallawahs clinched their third Caribbean Premier League title by thrashing league leaders Barbados Royals by 8 wickets in the final.

It was a great turnaround for Jamaica, given they only just about managed to enter the knockout stages, courtesy of a No Result in their final league game. But the Tallawahs excelled when it mattered the most, winning three knockout matches in a row.

Opting to bat first, Barbados managed to put a below-par 161-7 in 20 Overs with Azam Khan top-scoring with a 40-ball 51. The Royals had a glimmer of hope while defending their total when Kyle Mayers removed Kennar Lewis for a golden duck.

But after that, the Royals' bowling was just not penetrative enough. Opener Brandon King went hammer & tongs, stitching together a superb 86-run stand with Shamarh Brooks first before an unbeaten 75-run partnership with Rovman Powell saw his team home.

King, who remained unbeaten on 83 runs off 50 balls, was rightly adjudged the Player of the Match as well.
