ICC waits to hear from Afghanistan board on women's cricket

The International Cricket Council on Friday informed that the Afghanistan board has communicated that women's cricket will not stop in the war torn nation. Geoff Allardice, the acting ICC CEO said that while the response regarding women's cricket is affirmative from the Taliban govt's end, they neither have taken any action, nor they have given any clear indication.

Allardice further said that ICC's goal is to see men and women playing cricket in Afghanistan and the best way to achieve this is by staying closely connected to the cricket board and trying to influence things through the cricket board.

The Taliban takeover in Afghanistan has jeopardised the future of Afghanistan's participation in Test matches. Under ICC regulation for teams to play Tests, the nations must have an active women's team as well.
