IND vs BAN 3rd ODI: Want to cash in on the opportunities I get - Ishan Kishan

IND vs BAN 3rd ODI: Want to cash in on the opportunities I get - Ishan Kishan

India lost the series against the Tigers in Bangladesh but Ishan Kishan’s double ton and the Men in Blue’s ecstatic 227-run win in Chattogram brought some respite. Kishan who was the conquering hero entered the record books with the quickest double ton against Bangladesh in the final ODI.

While he got the opportunity due to skipper Rohit Sharma’s absence due to injury, the 24-year-old has no complains to make about not getting enough chances at the international stage.

Acknowledging the competition for spots in the team, the south paw at the post match conference said, ‘Batting position I don't think in this team is certain. Many big players are playing in different positions. It's all about performance and I can't complain that I want to bat in this position’

With Shubhman Gill, Rohit Sharma being absent from the squad, the Patna born cricketer got the chance to open alongside Shikhar Dhawan. The scenario would however, change once both the cricketers are back when playing against Sri Lanka in January.

Understanding the dynamics of the team, Kishan feels for him it was all about using the chance he had got. ‘It is such an opportunity if you get you need to score big because you will get just one or two matches to show your potential. A big player emerges like this only, he cashes on the opportunity which he gets’, Kishan who became the fourth Indian batter to score a double hundred said.

Kishan who had a strong 290-run partnership with Virat Kohli, that helped India post a mammoth 409-run target further said, ‘I am happy that I got an opportunity to bat along with Kohli but it wasn't in my mind at that time. I got to learn a lot of things batting with him. Since it was Virat I was trying to converse as much as possible with him so that I can learn.'

The wicketkeeper batter who converted his maiden 100 into double hundred had earlier during his post-match conference said that he was in the zone of getting 300, but unfortunately he was removed after he posted 210 in 131 balls.

‘I got out with 15 (14.1) overs left. I could have got 300 also, I am blessed to hear my name between such legends’, said the prolific opener.
