IND vs SL 2nd Test: Sri Lanka need a miracle on Day 3 to overhaul 447-run target

Sri Lanka need a great deal of grit and determination on Day 3 of the second Test between India and Sri Lanka to overhaul the 447-run target at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. At Stumps on Day 2, Sri Lanka were 28-1, needing 419 more runs to win with Kusal Perera and Dimuth Karunaratne at the crease.

Earlier, India wrapped up Sri Lanka's first innings for just 109 runs after the visitors resumed their innings at 86-6 on Day 2. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for India as he took his first five-wicket haul on home soil and 8th overall.

It was Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer again who scored at a brisk pace and put more agony on Sri Lanka. Pant went on to break Kapil Dev's long-standing record of fastest fifty as he reached the 50-run mark in just 28 deliveries.

Meanwhile, Shreyas went on to score 67 and showed how to bat on rank-turners with a balanced approach. With a half-century in each innings, Shreyas became the first Indian player to score a fifty in both the innings of a pink-ball Test. For Sri Lanka, Praveen Jayawickrama picked 4 wickets while Lasith Embuldeniya scalped 3 as India declared their second innings at 303-9.
