India solidify position on WTC points table after 5-wicket in Ranchi Test against England

In the aftermath of their latest victory in Ranchi, India have consolidated their position in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings, solidifying their place at second spot. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the team's points have surged to 62, thanks to an addition of 12 points to their prior tally of 50. This recent win means India now have five victories, one draw, and two defeats across eight matches in the ongoing WTC cycle.

Significantly, India's percentage of points experienced a substantial increase from 59.52 to 64.58 following their five-wicket victory, thereby widening the margin from their closest competitors, Australia at 55% and Bangladesh at 50%. This enhancement in their points percentage further cements India's standing as a formidable contender in the championship.

Contrastingly, England find themselves in a precarious position, ranking eighth with a points percentage of 19.44%. This places them just above Sri Lanka, who are currently at the bottom of the table without having secured any points.

Meanwhile, New Zealand remain at the pinnacle of the WTC points table, leading with 36 points from four games, which translates to an impressive point percentage of 75.00. New Zealand's consistent performance has kept them in the lead, setting a high benchmark for other teams in the championship.
