India vs England: Jasprit Bumrah breaks ODI records with career-best 6/19

On his return to the ODI fold after six months, India's spearhead Jasprit Bumrah produced a match-winning spell in the first ODI against England at The Oval.

Bumrah's career-best ODI figures of 6 for 19 demolished the Three Lions for just 110, their lowest-ever score against India in ODIs. Previously, India had bundled England out for a mere 125 runs in Jaipur during the 2006 home series.

Bumrah used the overcast conditions to great advantage and rocked the hosts' top-order with a sensational opening spell. England batters were clueless against the Indian pacer, who picked up 4 wickets in his first spell, knocking over Jason Roy, Joe Root, and Liam Livingstone for ducks. Jonny Bairstow was his 4th wicket in the spell. He then returned to pick the last two English wickets, finishing with 6 for 19, the third-best bowling figures by an Indian in 50-over cricket.

He is also the only Indian bowler to snaffle six wickets in England.

Bumrah now also has the best bowling figures by an Indian bowler against the Three Lions, going past Ashish Nehra's 6/23 in Durban during the 2003 World Cup.

While the Indian spearhead didn't enjoy a great outing as captain in the fifth and final Test a few days back, there can be no doubts about his capabilities as a bowler, for Bumrah has proven once again that he's simply world-class.
